If you're looking for luxury, wait until the new hotel is built. We stayed at the condos and had to be shuttled around. The staff went out of their way to try to compensate but if you prefer to stay near to the activities and spa services, stay at the villas.
The Spa Services made the trip well worth it. Everyone is excellent at the services they provide. The massages, reflexology and facials were my favorite services.
Although the gym was closed due to the demolition of the old hotel damaged in the earthquake, they opened the gym so I (and others) could work out there. We did not mind the workmen as they were all very professional and courteous. I believe the demolition is near completion, so the gym should be generally open henceforth.
The new hotel looks like it will be a great place and will likely surpass the comfort and style of the old hotel. Jan 2020 is the estimated completion date.
All staff are very nice and helpful and will go out of their way to make your trip pleasant. The food is very good. It's prepared to help you kick start your diet. The wait staff are excellent. I'm going to come back again.response / report this review -

A really nice hotel with Spa services in Ixtapan. The staff is really friendly and the prices are nit too high above average. They offer discounts depending the number of nights you want to stay, and they also offer massages and spa services with your stay as a package. The hotel is located next to the waterpark, so a few steps and you’ll be having fun. Right now the main building is going through a reconstruction so there are not many rooms available, but still you don’t even notice the building is being demolished and the villas are quite enjoyable.
I recommend this place if you want to get out of the city and forget about the noise and the stress.response / report this review -

have stayed as a group in the past at the spa. After the earthquake, the hotel contacted our organizer and said they would need to move our group date because our hotel rooms were still being repaired. Fortunately, we had purchased insurance for our airline tickets. Unfortunately, the hotel refused to help any of us by providing a letter for insurance. How did they expect us to get reimbursed by insurance to re book our flights for the new dates they offered?!? Giovanna, in customer service, would not provide our group with a letter for insurance explaining that the resort had changed our group date. We do not understand why they would not work with us to be able to get reimbursed for our flights so we could reschedule to the new group date. After being treated that way, we have decided not to risk visiting again knowing they will not be there to assist us, even if the change is on their part! Makes me sad because we did have a lovely visit beforehand, but I do not trust this resort to do the right thing.

Love this place! The New York Times described the spa very well. The staff is outstanding and so willing to please, and there are so many services and activities it's almost hard to fit everything into the week.

The hotel is amazing! You get so much content wih the spa package, and for an outstandingly low price. The massages are world class, and the food is delicious. I highly recommend this place!

The best thing of the hotel is the Spa. The garden jacuzzi has at least 5 broken pipes. The rooms are ok but the villas have not internet access.
