There are 2 companies traveling to holbox, 9 hermanos and holbox express. Both of them have the same prices and offer more or less the same service. The ferries depart every half hour during the day and every 1 hour after 3.30 in the afternoon. You can pay by cash or card. When I was there I happened to use 9 hermanos for both trips. On the way back from holbox there were 2 Cuban singers in our ferry singing and dancing. I found that entertaining. They later asked people to give donations if they liked.

It cost 140 mex per person, only takes 15 minutes.
    The island is really small
And I really won’t come again . It is only for sea attractions like scuba , it’s imposible to swim there

Fast ferry to Holbox, but don't sit up front unless you like ocean spray in your face 😂

Too Expensive for tourists. I see no good reason that a tourist should pay 3 times as much as a local person. (140 pesos against 40, one way)
I understand the need for price gaps but this is just to damn high.

The Ferry itself is quite punctual and clean.
If you sit on the upper deck, you'll probably get wet.

9 Hermanos and Holbox Express are the only two ferry companies connecting Holbox and Chiquila, for 140 pesos (~ $7.5 / €6.5). It's clean, punctual and fast enough (30min for ~5miles). There's no much of a view but the top deck makes it possible to enjoy the sea air. Beware the splashes!

    SCHEDULE:

CHIQUILA’ –> ISLA HOLBOX w/ Holbox Xpress (red boats): 6.00AM to 9.00PM every hour

CHIQUILA’ –> ISLA HOLBOX w/ 9 Hermanos (blue boats): 6.30AM to 9.30PM every hour

ISLA HOLBOX –> CHIQUILA’ w/ 9 Hermanos (blue boats): 5.00AM to 8.00PM every hour

ISLA HOLBOX –> CHIQUILA’ w/ Holbox Xpress (red boats): 5.30AM to 7.30PM every hour

TIP: there are (almost) no car on Holbox but they have buggies as taxi and to rent. So no worries for your luggage on arriving on Holbox. There will most likely be taxis waiting in line.

A convenient option to get to Holbox, otherwise swim or charter plane from Cancun Airport. Short quad ride into village.

I think the fare was about $140MX per person. Sit on the top floor in open air for the best ride. Watch for dolphins, whale sharks, flamingos, herons and pelicans. Morning ferry ride was stunning.

The ferry is little overpriced now. Before you can buy round trip fare but now since there are two companies you can have only one way. The "9 hermanos" boat is little old better take the "holbox express"

The ferry is quick and you can go either up (without roof) or inside the ferry.
