We made, last October, Hank’s great Bistro! Great food, drinks, and service and music! We had lunch there last fall while Hank himself filled us in about his bar and restaurant! We returned there last week for dinner in the evening! Same beautiful, beautiful Bar area and easy seating in the adjoining dinning room! Wow, you will also put Hank’s on your list of favorite places to eat in San Miguel!

Outstanding. In a wonderful location in historic San Miguel de Allende. Hank"s delivers. A taste of New Orleans offering an extensive menu and great service. I personally have an aversion to Cumin and asked our waiter if the food at Hanks was seasoned with it. He immediately went to check and brought the Chef to our table to answer my queries. The dish I chose and the sides were not seasoned with Cumin and I was able to enjoy my delicious Filet Petite which was cooked to my liking and served to perfection. Our dinner guests all chose different main courses and were all delighted with the food and service. Excellent.

Great place for late night drink and appetizer. Loud music (US hits) which is ok late night. New Orleans style food with Mexican touch such as Mexican shrimp cocktail was excellent. UpdateCalamari is crispy Very nice. UpdateBeen back 3 more times in 2 weeks.

It's anything but quiet. Music is too loud to hear the person you're sitting next to. Our trout that we ordered medium came out rare and the entire plate of food was a bit salty. Bummer. They were nice enough but a bit off when we were there.

Lunch on a weekday last week. Because of good reviews we dropped in for lunch. Only two or three tables were filled.
Slow service. Got a beer after a while and ordered. At least 45 minutes to be served. Just not even ordinary. A tuna steak w/sweet&sour sauce I would have sent back at home.
I heard a few days later that it's mainly a pick-up joint. The bar was nice looking and it's right in the middle of the action. I believe it. Luckily, I'm already married and have no trouble getting dates.. haha..
Seriously, I would recommend avoiding Hank's in this great restaurant town. Really easy to get good food here, but probably not a Hank's.response / report this review -

Excellent food for the price point: you can spend a little or a lot. The bar is always hopping on evenings and weekends. They serve yummy burgers, blackened fish, good French fries, and lots of specialty salads. Downtown gets very crowded holidays and weekends, so make a reservation and come on foot or by cab.

My wife had the jambalaya and I had a chicken dish with with ham and beirnase sauce (sorry, forgot what it is called). Both were excellent and, compared to prices back in the USA, a bargain. We will be back.
