The rating all depends on what you are looking for. If you are handicapped (built with handicapped people in mind, hence the name) OR staying 1 or 2 nights in the hotel, go for it. It's a "decent place" for that.
If driving through RV'ing and need a place to crash for a night, it will work but you may not get a good night's sleep as it's noisy.
If you are seeking a place to stay a few days, relax, play in the water, etc. I wouldn't waste the time.
Initially asks for 400 pesos a night, ABSOLUTELY NO WAY is this EVER reasonable for what you receive. Without much effort price reduced to 150 pesos, still too much in my opinion.
Why? If RV'ing you are next to the busiest public beach on the island, 24 hours a day people, boats, cars, scooters, semi-trucks in highway 100 feet away, workers on the bridge project loading/unloading at said public beach, street dogs, street vendors all come by. Noisy, no privacy, security no issue for us but could be easily for anyone here.
The bathrooms are dismal, 1 hook to hang clothes/towels/shower bag in men's room no shelves and cold water. 2 men's bathrooms, only one shower works. Even worse, when over 100 people are enjoying the beach just feet away from your RV/Vehicle playing music and swimming in water where do they go to the bathroom? Yep, in the ones you are paying for. Wanna take a shower at night? Enjoy all the sand and wet floors as you do that. Or the toilet may be plugged up from some guy who drank too much on the beach.
Want to go walk the beach at Sunset AFTER scores of people finally leave the beach nice and open? Too bad, the fence is locked before the sunset is over. Wanna go walk into town for a nice dinner? Too bad, if not locked in you are locked out. Security does not have a key either, just the Owner. Who is not easy to conjure up early or late in day.
The RV areas did have water, and power outlets, hence the 2 stars. However you will get pine needles and tree debris all over your vehicle, and be oogled by people all day long. Weekends obviously far worse than weekday.
Also, vendors selling food items are ON THE PROPERTY not the public beach chiming their bells and yelling loudly for hours to attract clients ON THE BEACH. How relaxing right?
Overall this place serves a purpose of a RV/overland rig location, but far from enjoyable. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should they ask for or you to pay more than 150 pesos a night. Unless you hate yourself or your money.
Food from the restaurant was good enough, mixed drinks (pina colada and margerita) were worse than bad, like not even able to be finished. They are dog friendly, so that is a huge plus if you are hampered by having a pet in Mexico like I am. Passing through, no problem. Staying a While? Wouldn't suggest it. Hope this helps a future traveler, as our expectations were far different than reality based on "online research".
Note: if traveling East and stopping in Chetumal or near Chetumal, do yourself a HUGE favor and stop by Yax Ha RV Park/Cabanas in Calderitas.response / report this review -

Great place, feels like home, excellent pet friendly place, exceptional clean and the food is great!!!!! Also Thelma is the best host!!!! I always stay here on my way to Merida.

Lovely lady owner!
Really fortunate to had beautiful weather and put our tiny tent in their campground, clean relaxing environment with fresh sea breeze make the stay enjoyable.
There is outside bathroom where you can have your personal hygiene, however no hot shower during our stay.
They also have restaurant serves delicious meal with affordable price wise.response / report this review -

Lovely campground with beautiful views, beach, bathhouse and restaurant. The owner, Thelma is so nice. Dog-friendly place with all services. Thelma arranged for a lovely beach side dinner. She also helped arrange massages, laundry, and get copies of document scanned and sent to US doctor.

Excelente lugar para descansar, a la orilla del mar, cuartos limpios, amplios y con unas camas tan cómodas, que invitan a dormir placenteramente. Lo recomiendo ampliamente .

Excelente hotel para desconectar del estrés diario. Nosotros vinimos por 1 dÃa y nos quedamos 3 dÃas de lo bien que te tratan. La señora Thelma (dueña) es una excelente anfitriona donde hace lo imposible para que te sientas lo más cómodo posible ayudada de su gran equipo. Abel que no tiene el NO en su vocabulario.. El cocinero Jorge con un buen sazón. (Recomiendo las manitas de cangrejo al mojo de ajo). En fin un gran hotel que te da relajación por estar en la playa pero sobre todo por que las personas que te atienden lo hacen por que les gusta.
Recomendado el paseo en lancha para ver los delfines con Luis.response / report this review -

Freedom shores is a haven on the shores of Laguna de Terminos, in Isla Aguada. The owner, Thelma is friendly and accommodating. She provided me with a camping space, food and water, and showers. It is quite affordable to stay here, and you can have the opportunity to take a boat out into the Laguna to see bird island, shell island, and see many dolphins.

Very relaxing place to stay. Thelma was extremely nice and personable. We stayed there a total of 7 nights between two stops 4 the first time and 3 the second. rv spots at $20 a night with full hook ups. No problems with the electrical the first stop. The second a few problems with a breaker popping but it rained very hard at night so I blame the rain for that.
Over all a great place off the beaten path to relax and really enjoy vacation.response / report this review -

Bad wiring at the RV park fried our appliances in February this year: Telma, the owner, hired an electrician who confirmed the RV parks liability; Telma agreed to pay for our damages once we got back to the U.S. and today, almost 6 months later, we get a phone call from her son William that they will pay nothing because it was our fault.
Interesting business ethics down in Mexico!
All I can say: beware before staying there. We won't ever again.
