Quite an amazing collection of studios for artists and dealers. Mostly? dealers. Easy taxi ride from town, relatively easy walk from the main square around the church (hah! You say. THE church? I mean the principal church by the largest square.) I was traveling w a serious artist, she quite liked it.
I am a peasant when it comes to art, I liked it too.

There are a couple of nice-looking cafes here, one quite informal and the other not quite so much. I didn't engage either one, so can't comment on their menus. To be complete, nice restrooms, too.

Four stars only because 5 means unbelievable. Grade inflation is rampant. 4 stars means very very nice. Don't miss it.

A large art gallery with many artisans ranging from pedestrian ordinary to spectacular creativity. The clientele are mainly over-dressed gringos with money burning holes in their pockets which I found kind of pretentious. This is an expensive place.

Fabrica la Aurora is a must visit when in San Miguel de Allende. Sooooo many talented artists and creative galleries to visit. One of the best ones to visit is the James Harvey Artist Gallery, such a unique collection of talent. There are several cafes where you can take a break and continue your adventure. Have fun!!!!!!1

There is some beautiful art here, but no artists visibly working. In fact, it appeared that few artists were present(about three) on the day when it was advertised as open studio. Mostly there are upscale and pricey designer shops, lots for home furnishings, but no bargains. Several shops that advertise "antiquities" wonderful to look at but careful what you touch.

Great place to see art, although the grounds and gardens are art in themselves! First Saturday of each month is artwalk, great chance to mix and mingle and talk with the artists

Amazing art everywhere you look! All of the shops have distinct offerings and there's a section within the shops that show what it was like as a factory. After taking a stroll there's a small restaurant and coffee shop you can take a moment to have a snack and take it all in.

Whether you're actually shopping for fine art, home furnishings, or gifts, or just browsing for fun and ideas, this co-op is definitely worth a visit. Both the café at the back and the two restaurants at the front are good, too, so you can eat here, too (or at Geek & Coffee, behind the parking lot). The building itself, an old fabric factory, is historic and interesting. Walking distance from the main plaza, about 15 minutes.
