A must stop on your way to or from Palenque. It is a nice quiete spot in spite of the crowd that you usually find there (go early and avoid lunch time as much as you can).
It's only blue a few weeks during the year as rainfalls can disturb its color, but it's always beautiful to see.
You can spend some time in the water, even with children.

This place is awesome! The waterfalls are mind blowing! The vendors tend to get in your personal space. Seems as if the kids that sell and direct traffic are the ones that control the price market of everything. Be careful before making any arrangements with them.

Beautiful waterfalls with swimming areas. Only 4 stars since the many Mexican salesman singing you until you buy something from them. All in all it's a must see which has been victim to becoming a big touristic attraction.

Of you want to see a place that is rich in natural beauty and be able to interact with it.. this is the place. the waterfalls are as impressive as they come and the pools that you can swim in are very fun to get in into, had a great day here.. only negative would be the aggresiveness of some of the vendors, specially while eating they wont let you be, but still worth a 5 star review. its that incredible!!

The Cascadas de Agua Azul (Spanish for "Blue-water Falls") are a series of waterfalls found on the Xanil River in the Chiapas, Mexico. They are located in the Municipality of Tumbalá, 69 kilometers from Palenque, near Mexican Federal Highway 199.

These waterfalls consists of many cataracts following one after another, taken from near the top of the sequence of cascades. The larger cataracts may be as high as 6 meters (20 feet) or so. During much of the distance the water descends in two streams, with small islands in the middle.

The water has a high content of calcium carbonate and other minerals, and where it falls on rocks or fallen trees it encases them in a thick shell-like coating of limestone[2].

Local residents reportedly restored the waterfalls[3] after the 2017 Chiapas earthquake changed the course of the river and led to a temporary reduction of the water flow over the falls. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Walked 40 minutes up to their restoration area affected by Sept 2017 earthquake! The water comes back slowly, hopefully will be back to its beauty soon.

There is very basic cabanas which allow you stay overnight here, 2 queen beds with private bathroom, don't expect any other amenities okay!!! It cost us 350 pesos, probably will be much more affordable if you speak Spanish 😍🤔 be very careful with tourism trap thought.

If you happen to be here at the right time of the year you will enjoy magnificent waterfalls and deep turquoise waters. The high mineral content allows for a good trip and makes the experience all that more enjoyable. Don't forget your camera!

Waterfalls are nice, but it's surrounded by hundreds of vendors. Good for a 5 minute stop, but not much more time.

Amazing place to visit. Takes time to get here from main cities but totally worth it. There's a place where you can swim. Bring watershoes.

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The water is amazingly clear and aqua. Swimming where the two waterfalls meet is a moving experience. So, suit up, don't just watch. 🤗

An excellent day trip from Palenque or on the way spot to cool off and refresh. Many many restaurant stalls and tourist amenities available. The pools are plentiful and it is possible to even find your own quiet one. We went with our dog and it was no problem.

Great place. It is very nice not only because of nice pictures. You can also experience light blue water by yourself :). There is occasion for hiking along the river to views on this place. Local people are very nice and the souvenirs they offer (huge variety of different stuff) are in good prices. It is good to visit this place by colectivo on a way Palenque San Cristobal de las casas. For sure worth visiting!

This is a must visit. The park is nicely laid out with trails to observation points to view the pools and waterfalls in all their blue splendor. This place in not wheelchair friendly.
