Walked around the outside of this pretty, old brick building and the groundsman offered to show us around the inside (which was also beautiful). Well worth seeing if you're in Blantyre and want some culture!

Someone said that this was at one time the only complete church building between the Zambezi & the Nile. Certainly one of the most important historical sites in this part of Africa.
The 'architect' DC Scott had no architectural experience at all & had never laid a brick in his life when he embarked on this. He kept the 'drawings' in his head & did not tell his bosses (The Mission Board in Scotland) about this work until it was completed. They confirmed afterwards that if they had known what he was building that they would have ordered him to stop.
He was translating the bible at the same time he was building this with local labourers.report this review -
