Our BeliefsThe power of creative expression can change our communities and prepare youth for future success. By giving students a place to express themselves - particularly in Chichewa or English will help foster a reading culture and a sense of national literary identity. Youth who spend more time reading and writing are more likely to be recognized for academic achievement. If we strengthen problem-solving and critical thinking skills youth would have the knowledge to manage risky behaviors in result preventing school drop outs and early sexual activity.Our Mission Expanded• To develop a culture of reading in Malawi by strengthening literacy skills and building confidence.• To create a tangible project to unite around: a magazine that Malawians can read, enjoy, and be proud of.• To provide real audiences for our writers and contributors in return act as a tool for spreading information.• To address the challenges that the community is faced with when trying to further their education. • To provide supplemental reading and learning materials to support concepts being taught in schools.• To help people think critically about their health, their lives, and their world. • Ultimately, to arm people with information so they can make thoughtful positive decisions.Our Objectives• To represent the reality of living in Malawi through literature.• To assist public schools in creating functioning libraries with appropriate reading materials• To improve teachers English proficiency and participatory English learning activities • To increase community involvement in literacy development to improve English comprehension
