I am currently a park to visit but since photos show elephants killed I think I will go to some other countries where they respect diversity. Other tourists should do the same.

First my apologies for the following “poem”. It is not the terrible poem that counts. Rather that it is a reflection of the temperament that you will immediately feel once one arrives here.

Poem created whilst in conversion with crickets, hippos, frogs and many birds whilst under the light from the mirrored surface on the moon reflects over the lake.

As the stresses and strains evaporate,
Connection to the natural world is re-obtained,
Noises of nature become voices of discussion,
Not simply Buddhist percussion,
As you relax with nature,
Nature relaxes to accommodate you lustre.

When in unity with Gaia,
Reflected light offers her natural mirror,
Be it the sky, the land, the water, her emotion,
The reflected environment sees you natural persona,
Embarking in your relaxed journey inward,
Allows one the rare opportunity to study the next journey outward,
And all that is bad falls away,
Preparing for the next joyous day.

Diary entry/letter with you in mind.

Dear (place you name here and read again),

I wish to introduce you to a friend of mine. Having spent six months working as a teacher near Kazungu I have finally met my most valued friend. I am overjoyed to introduce you to Tranquillity. Tranquillity lives in the Kasungu National Park. Tranquillity will give you whatever you desire as long as it is available. Be it:-

 electricity between 18:00 and 20:30 hrs (or more should you desire it).
 elephants that should loose interest in you if you clap your hand three times (if not do what your guide with an M16 machine gun advises).
 hippos that would be aptly perceived with a joint in their mouths (not bad for the animal responsible for more human death than any other [usually occurs when the victim gets between the hippo and deep water or between a mother and her calf).
 workers who do what ever they can for you without you even asking.
 a red moonlit night, fifteen shooting stars and one star flickering red and white.
 a hippo having a chat with his mate as I sip on the upper level of the bar looking across the lake at night.
 active anti-poaching duties

I could go on forever but tranquillity offers support at every opportunity. Starched towels – check, soap – check, thatched roofing – chech, patio – check, mosquito net – check, Kitchen facilities – check … the list is inexhaustible.

Imagine my surprise when just before turning in I realise Tranquillity has left me a mosquito coil. Or when I ate the dinner I had cooking on the bar’s patio I discovered all of my washing up had been done for me. Or when I asked if I could leave food in the kitchen a cool box appeared for me to use. Or when I realised that the water available is untreated a bottle of water purification liquid appeared. Or finally when I was asked what time I required all stoves to be lit for my breakfast.

All I can advise is that if you plan to meet Tranquillity be prepared to tip. How much is immaterial – simply that you would feel guilty if you don’t.

Tranquillity is not the type of friend who is not on time. Tranquillity is also not in a hurry because if a job needs doing it is done, right, first time.

This does leave you with one very important responsibility. If you are to remain friends with Tranquillity you MUST relax.
