    IPTE 12 - FOR TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAM MINISTRY OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INITIAL PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER... TRAINING PROGRAM The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is inviting applications from interested and suitably qualified candidates to undergo a two-year Initial Primary Teacher Training course in the Public Teacher Training Colleges. During the first year, trainee teachers will be on full time learning and training in primary school teaching. In the second year, they will be attached to Teaching Practice Schools within the Teacher Training College's catchment area. Conditions of the program Upon successful completion of the training, individuals will be appointed as Primary School Teachers, Grade L, within the Malawi Government Teaching Service under Education Districts where they will be deployed to teach in rural primary schools. Qualifications Interested applicants must possess a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with six credits which should include English, Mathematics and one other Science subject (Agriculture, Science & Technology, Biology, Physical Science, Physics, Chemistry, and Home economics). The aggregate of the six credits should not exceed 30. Age The applicants should not be more than 35 years old. Tuition fees All interested candidates must be willing to pay K35, 000.00 per term Training allowance During the teaching practice year, the trainee teachers will be eligible to a monthly upkeep allowance which is currently at K20, 000.00. However, the trainee teachers will not be paid the upkeep allowance during holidays and when they will be waiting for release of examination results at the end of the training. No other allowances shall be paid to students during the two-year training period. Method of application Applicants should clearly mark 'IPTE 12' on top of the envelope. Application letters indicating personal particulars, with copies of certificates or notification of results are invited. Girls are encouraged to apply. Application letters without copies of certificates or results notification slip will be disqualified. Interested applicants meeting the stated entry requirements should send their written application together with a photocopy of their certificate or notification of results slip (for 2014 and 2015 MSCE holders) to: The Secretary for Education, Science and Technology, Private Bag 328, Lilongwe 3.
