Wheel fell off the car while driving down the highway. Unsafe car and charged 160,000 MKW for two days hire, more than 1000 MKW per km travelled over the weekend!!!
Hired a car that looked reasonably well maintained (just some large cracks to the windshield and one mirror) but Unfortunately one of the rear wheels fell off the Toyota Corolla I hired, while driving at 80 km/h down the M1...
When I reserved the car I had been quoted a price of 12500 kwacha/day + 6000 kwacha/day insurance + 125 kwacha/km. When I returned the car that told me that it was a 60000 kwacha/day fixed charge (about 3x more that the original cost would have been with my distance covered). They claimed to have sent me a quote by e-mail (that I never received and was not in my spam folder) with these fees.
Rip off fees for dangerous cars. Next time I'd pay for one of the international companies. They are expensive but should at least be safe. CountryWide works out just as expensive when they deceive about costs like this
Rented from Countrywide for 8 days in June. The booking process was done via email with Christina, all queries were promptly and professionally answered. Countrywide met us at KIA, booking in process was simple, as was the return process. On the 4th day our car developed a minor mechanical fault, we reported the fault to Christina at 16:30, by 07:30 the next day a replacement car was delivered to our hotel, 45 miles away from the Blantyre office. Excellent service!
Our deposit was slightly more than the actual cost - the refund was in our bank within a few days. Excellent service.
Would we rent from Countrywide again? Yes!
144,000 for 2 day car hire. Mis-represented their prices.
Highly unreliable company. Received a message from them an hour before pick-up time that the car won't be available due to logistic issues. No option to rent car of another type was provided.
