The main aim and objective for the establishment of this organization is focused on Islamic and Secular Education, targeting the youth and Adults in accordance to the Holy Quraan and teachings of the last Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam).
ASUM is undoubtedly and purely promoting the Ahle Sunnat Wal jamaat.
ASUM started with only one Madrassah, and that was the Area 22 Madrassah in the City of Lilongwe. As of now, ASUM has 270 Madrassahs covering:
Lilongwe,
Salima,
Nkhotakota,
Dedza,
Mchinji,
Kasungu,
Dowa District in the Central Region,
Mzimba District in the Northern Region,
Zomba,
Chiradzulu,
Blantyre,
Mangochi Districts in Southern Region.
Our plan is to open 500 Madrassahs in Malawi, but our main challenge is the shortage of human resources (Teachers). To eradicate this problem, we have introduced a system what we call “attachment system”. In this system, we get students from our own Madrassahs, who have completed the Quraan and other books which are included and taught in our syllabus, to train them by attaching them to our experienced Muallims (teachers) in the rural Madrassahs for two - three months. After this period, we send them to different Jamaats, to employ them as their Madrassah Teacher. It has to be made apparent that the Jamaats are the Employers.
Apart from operating rural Madrassahs, ASUM has one Institute for boys only, where pupils upon completing primary syllabus are selected to study at this Institute for higher Education. It is known as The Institute of Islamic Education and Culture (IIEC). It is situated in Chitedze, along Lilongwe –Mchinji M1 Road, which is about 18 KM from the City of Lilongwe.
ASUM has already constructed a school for the girls with all the facilities available. The remaining aspect is the recruitment of Staff to be working there and the installation of ESCOM Power. Once these aspects reach completion, the Institute is going to be operating. It is situated in M’bwatalika along Lilongwe-Mchinji M1 road.
In the Southern region, we also have a centre in Limbe at the Ghausia Musjid (IIEC).
Very soon we are intending to open one more satellite centre in Zomba at Songani where we want to start IIEC (ASUM).
