This is my first time ever visiting Mulanje after being in Malawi for 3 months. I love the scenic view of this district. No doubt I will stay much longer if I have more time.
Today 16 December 2017, I arrived at Africa Wild Truck - AWT Eco Lodge and Camp with scattered rain. I was greeted by all friendly owner Francesca and her lovely staffs Wilson, Margaret and Evelyne. Their early hospitality directly indeed made me feel at my own home. A personalized hand written welcoming card was placed on my bed.
In the late afternoon, the rain was getting bigger and bigger. Evelyne offered me to light up the fireplace to warm the room number 2 where I stay. It is a double bed with private bathroom and cost 25,000MWK including breakfast. I adore the simplicity, beautiful architecture and super cleaneness of everything inside of the bed room.
I am surprised that the data internet connection of my local cellphone works very we here. I am assuming that maybe because there is a huge antenna nearby the road entrance of AWT.
In the evening at 06.30pm, Margaret prepared and cooked me a set of dinner (Entré, Main Course and 3 scoops of Gelató covered with choco syrup which overall cost 14,500 MWK).
After the dinner, Margaret asked me if breakfast at the following day shall be served at 07.30? She is very flexible even if I am a requesting for an early later serving. Also, Francesca has kindly accepted my request for a late check out.
In the following morning, while enjoying my healthy breakfast, Francesca shared a bit of her experience landing in Africa many years ago. She is an architect by profession and felt in love with Africa, so she and her husband Stefano created the company together. At first, the company focuses more in the Safari tours and now they both extend to the lodge and camp business too.
Besides above, AWT offers Safari Tours and it also produces its own products like jams and other souvenirs like T-Shirts, Caps and many more. I found out that the company also do donating some of their profit for the benefit of the people and community surrounding it.
I really salute for the eco-tourism concept which has been brought to Malawi by AWT. I hope AWT will continuously bring a sustainable impact both for its business and the people who positively get benefit from what they are doing.
Once again, many thanks for the excellent service, AWT team 😎 !!!! All the personal touch of everything in AWT has made me feel treated like a VVIP. Will for sure come back here if I visit Mulanje again. Thus, I will highly recommend friends for their upcoming visit.report this review -

Viaggiare con Francesca e Stefano non è solo "Viaggiare! È innamorarsi dell'Africa in tutti i suoi aspetti, la natura, le persone, le diversità! Con loro si fa una spedizione! Non sono solo guide ma punto di riferimento, compagni di viaggio! La spedizione a cui ho partecipato è stata organizzata in ogni dettaglio: i lodge dove abbiamo alloggiato sono molto belli, confortevoli e puliti; si è mangiato molto bene e le mete proposte ci hanno sempre regalato grandi emozioni! Insomma un'esperienza che non vedo l'ora di poter rifare! A presto!!!

What an honour to be one of the first guests to book a night in their NEW lodge in Lujeri/Mulanje. The rooms are fantastic and equipped with everything you need, the garden area is really relaxing (with hammock), the lodge is located close to a small village where the locals are happy to show you around and the food - the foood - the food is fantastic and it's a lot. Make sure you arrive hungry ;-) I'm sure they will evolve even more after a couple of month in this 'new' business.

Fausto e Rosella hanno viaggiato con A.W.T. 2 volte : nel 2009 con la Spedizione 34 e nel 2011 con la 54. La prima volta abbiamo attraversato la Tanzania partendo da Dar Es Salam, per giungere fino al confine col Malawi e percorrendo tutto il corso del lago siamo poi arrivati alla capitale. La seconda esperienza ci ha fatto visitare i Parchi del Sud del Malawi e il meraviglioso South Luangwa in Zambia.
Che dire : sono state due esperienze fantastiche all'insegna della scoperta di posti splendidi ed incontaminati. Abbiamo fatto esperienze che per noi sembravano impensabili, quali il campo tendato, il safari in barca o anche solo il fatto di essere in un gruppo di persone fino ad allora sconosciute che poi sono diventati grandi Amici.
Francesca e Stefano con la loro sicurezza, la loro esperienza e tranquillità ci hanno fatto scoprire un lato dell'Africa che per noi era assolutamente sconosciuto.
Una esperienza da rifare ad ogni costo, soprattutto ora che Fausto ha definitivamente risolto i suoi problemi di mobilità.

Ho viaggiato con AWT, Francesca e Stefano mi hanno trasmesso la loro passione per 'Africa. Per chiunque volesse intraprendere un viaggio immerso nel wild africano, consiglio assolutamente di viaggiare con loro. Passione, competenza e simpatia.

Africawildtruck, una garanzia di affidabilità e divertimento. Viaggiare con loro regala momenti di avventura, cultura, natura, passione, alla scoperta dell'Africa autentica.
Li ho conosciuti nel 2011 e ho trovato in loro non solo degli organizzatori di viaggio fantastici ma anche degli amici che spero di conservare per sempre!!!!!report this review -

Guide professionali che non ti fanno mancare nulla facendoti sentire come in famiglia.
La loro passione e il loro amore per l'Africa ti fanno scoprire un continente diverso dai soliti cliché,visto con occhi che si vogliono stupire ogni volta per un tramonto per un cielo sconfinato o per un elefante che beve al fiume.
Ho viaggiato più volte con loro ed ogni volta è stata un'esperienza a 360 gradi.

Il viaggio appena fatto, in Zambia e Botswana , è stato il terzo con Francesca e Stefano, e, questo, può già far intuire quanto io li apprezzi.
Trasformano il viaggio in un incontro tra amici, senza mai perdere di vista la sicurezza, la puntualità, l’organizzazione, e riescono a creare armonia anche in gruppi di persone sconosciute.
La loro esperienza è sempre messa a disposizione di tutti i partecipanti, e sanno soddisfare tutte le curiosità che si possano avere sull’Africa, sia che si riferiscano ad animali, piante, ambiente o cultura.
E’ poi meraviglioso vedere e sentire il loro entusiasmo, la loro passione, e, a volte il loro stupore di fronte alla maestosità e alla bellezza della natura in Africa, ogni volta tutto è diverso, in ogni viaggio si fanno scoperte e ci si arricchisce.
Auguro a tutti i viaggiatori di poter avere il privilegio di viaggiare con loro!!!!!!!
