Spent 5 days in this paradise last week. I have to mention that this is one of the best resorts in Maldives. It is simply beautiful and has spectacular facilities to offer. The AI plan that they offer is worth every penny that you spend. The beach villas with open shower make up for its WOW factor. The food is awesome! Also, the staff is warm and friendly. Everything from the check-in to the room switch and the check out was super smooth for us. As honeymooners, we had the times of our lives at Sun Aqua Vilu Reef. The resort is a bit far from the mainland Male so it is suggested that one takes a seaplane instead of a domestic flight and a speed boat.

Beautiful place. Very relaxing except for the bedbugs. Travelers should carry bedbug deterrents. Friendly and helpful staff. Worth visiting again.

Great resort island in Maldives. White sand clean beach. Abundance of sea life. Water sports, snorkeling etc are amazing. Food could be improved but not at all bad. I would definitely recommend this resort

Had a beautiful honeymoon at Sun Aqua Vilu Reef. The place is as dreamy and as beautiful as it looks in pictures. The service from the staff is wonderful- Fahudh was awesome! In terms of food, there is not much variety for vegetarians which is disappointing and is something that needs looking into from the resort. However, the “Well Done” restaurant made up some vegetarian meals for me which were delicious! Overall, my hubby and I had an incredible experience and would love to go back again.

We had booked two nights in the Beach Villa and 3 in the Aqua Suite with All Inclusive plan. At the outset itself there was quite a lot of confusion with the All-Inclusive plan with the resort sending different details every time. This was resolved by me contacting the Front Office Manager prior to my travel and getting confirmation on the inclusivity’s. Since I was on my honeymoon, I got a couple more freebies.

The rooms are newly renovated and spacious. The amenities in the rooms are also quite good. The rooms and the resort itself are well maintained and kept very clean.

The dolphin cruise was a definite thumbs up! We saw many dolphins and they even swim and play by the boat. However we did hear that you don’t get to see them every time. So I guess we got lucky. The local island hopping offered in the package was an absolute waste of time. The two islands are depressing with nothing to see. There wasn’t even a local market to browse through. It was a complete waste of half a day so I would definitely recommend skipping it.

As for the dinning and bars, the alcohol choices were quite decent in the all-inclusive and drinks are offered until midnight. However the buffet at the Aqua was well below par. The food during all the 5 nights of our stay was just half decent. The resort has a major room for improvement there. The service staff in the dinning areas however were pretty helpful.

A major plus point is the snorkelling by the reefs. The snorkelling equipment was part of the All inclusive during the stay. Do bring along beach shoes though! Other than that there was kayaking and paddle board as well.

The island itself is quite small so getting around isn’t time consuming. Overall the resort is pretty decent. Would call it a 5 star as its more like a 4.5 star resort. Would recommend this resort for family’s as well as honeymooners.

Its a beautiful resort with super friendly staff who will take care of all your needs. We were also given auto upgrade of rooms (subject to availability) as we were honeymooners. Do take all inclusive package to enjoy unlimited drinks and food.
Vegetarians won't have much options in food but whatever little they made for us was quite good and filling. So overall a wonderful experience with sun aqua vilu reef.

Staff Vivian helped us a lot with the room arranging, thank you ❤️

However, not able to reach the restaurant (The Well Done) for dinner is a bit shamed causing by fully booked. Understood it's the peak season, but as for the 5 stars Villa, it's still can be improved. Though we heard it's a restaurant worth visit, there was no chance to prove it.

Meanwhile, in-villa dining make a big plus. Food was delicious and the portion was fine. Honeymoon wine&cake and Christmas' dessert did surprise us thanks for that thoughtful arrangements.

In general, the place worth visit. But if possible, please remove the orientation course diving for the people who own OW license. As for the journey of diving, we'd like to thank Max, the diving guide, with thoughtful and amazing diving experience.

Sun aqua vilu reef is a rare gem to find. An amazing place with beautiful coral reefs, beautiful white beaches, amazing turquoise waters, world class food and, not least, a truly unique staff that makes your stay something you will never forget. There’s nothing bad to say about the service and the crew at this resort knows what they are living up to. This is a very unique and beautiful place but it should be said that it is thanks to those who work here. Good mood, much love and respect in these people. The food is something for itself, wonderful menus, varied, tasteful and, not least, delicious. We would like to thank you for a truly unique and imaginative stay and we will definitely return. This is world clas resort, highly recommended. Lots of love from Norway.

Small island for a secluded feel and no crowds. Great food and decently priced drinks! Live entertainment every night as well as wild sting ray feeding every day at 6pm. Beautiful overwaterbungalow and amazing snorkeling.

A very beautiful island but then most of the islands in the Maldives are fantastic. The resort facilities are very good and suites most visitors. We travel a lot and compared to other more luxurious resorts this one didn't reach the top of our list. There are some really nice people in the staff but the overall service wasn't that good for being a 5 star resort. A lot off small mistakes as service during lunch hours to bigger mistakes and lack of information to the staff from management puts the score down. The management really need to put things together to get things right. A very big no no was that management threated us different as husband and wife. I got a meeting with one of the managers that really tried to make things right and promised to compensate us. While another restaurantmanager told my wife that he didn't have time with her when she tried to explain what they did wrong the first time. When I got there and asked why he didn't have time to talk with my wife or guests there I got full attention from him. Shouldn't really be any difference between treatment of us according to me. They tried again to compensate us and especially the chef at the Well Done restaurant did a good job. But as final statement, the management has to improve, otherwise the staff won't improve either and that ruins the experience at the resort.

One of the most beautiful places on earth. Weather warm and we experienced 2 storms while on the island. Scary but amazing experience I would do again. Service was good and the water villas were an experience to remember.

Really nice place, but as usual nowhere is perfect. The wind has been blowing 10 to 15 knots the whole time. Although it keeps you cooler, it can be unpleasant

If the story about the swiss couple on their honeymoon is to believed, this is a place not to be trusted. Better to find somewhere that you don't have to worry about what they are saying or how they are preparing your food.

The staff, in their native language, will insult you at any chance they get. They'll insult you, your appearance, your children, your religion, your sexual preference, and just about anything they can think of.

Makes you wonder, if they hate tourists so much, what they are doing to your food and the rest of your accommodations.

    Take your "infidel" money elsewhere.

Great local experience I can ever expect! It is a very cozy island, fresh and energetic! White villas, fifty shades of blue sea! They have their own farm island nearby and also quite Close to the local malvidves island, We like Shammun a lot, he helped us to arrange a trip to the farm island and the local island, I feel so close to the malvidives, ate the afternoon tea in the small local restaurant with locals, tried their local after meal chewing plants! The resorts staffs are super friendly and helpful, the room is clean, you can't miss the spa treatment and the fish! Overall, super recommend!

Our stay at Sun Aqua Vilu Reef in the Maldives was nothing short of paradise.

From the moment we stepped off the plane in Male Airport to when we unfortunately, had to leave we were treated with the highest of service.

The hotel is located on the most incredible island I have ever seen with 360 views of perfectly clear water, it's own reef & perfect white sand. You'll find a very relaxed atmosphere with beanbags, swings and hammocks located throughout the grounds.

The activities on the island are endless, from private boat trips to water sports galore including the most breathtaking reef for diving & snorkeling. For those into fitness, a well equipped gym is available plus tennis and volleyball courts. In the evenings treat yourself to the Well Done restaurant located right on the beach and enjoy the live music entertainment throughout the evenings.

Our favourite part of this hotel, and in fact any hotel we have ever stayed in before was the staff. They were ALWAYS smiling, always saying hello, always wanting to help in any way they can. If anything goes wrong or a customer isn't satisfied they won't just fix the problem but they will go above and beyond to ensure you're happy. A special shout out to Ronson, Shammun, Asham and Dulaj!

The rooms are clean and well designed with ample space. The sunset reef villa was stunning as was the aqua pool villa, however no room will leave you disappointed.

Sun Aqua Vilu Reef is the perfect resort for anyone wanting to travel to the Maldives and we thank you for having us! We loved every minute of our stay.

This island is intimate, romantic and with a relaxed chic vibe, emphasized by the white decor and modern pops of colour. The crystal clear aqua water and white sand is just jaw dropping. There's no denying this island is paradise.

Our rooms were beautiful also, with lots of space, natural light and incredible views. We recommend the sunset villas and the beach villas with pool, due to their superior views.

What made our stay so enjoyable was every single staff member being so friendly, courteous and always smiling. Special mention to Shammun, Asham, Royson, Dulaj and Denzil! Great service all around :)

The WiFi was fast and worked across the whole island and in the rooms, although videos struggled a little bit.

The vast majority of the food was fresh and delicious (we enjoyed the fine dining most). Our advice if something is not to your liking, ask them to make something fresh. And if something is not right, tell them and they will make it right and then some. Special shout out to Denzil, thank you for your always smiling happy service!

Regarding costs and prices, after tax and included service, a beer was $9, cocktails $17, snacks $20-$30, dinner buffet $70, wine started at $50, dinner mains $50-$65. Or you can get all-inclusive, worth it if you like to drink.

Make sure you go paddle boarding and snorkeling (go in entrance 2 and float to entrance 1). We did the introductory diving but to be honest we saw the same snorkeling, as the water is ridiculously clear. If you're certified it would be different as you will dive elsewhere.

Do the sunset fishing cruise, we caught 12 fish and they cooked it for us for lunch the next day.

If you do come, make sure it is for at minimum 3 nights as you will spend a lot of time in transit.

You will fall in love with this island, we certainly did not want to leave!

    Stay here, it's incredible.

5 star resort. 6 star service. The buffet has a board range of things to eat. Everyday has different theme of food selection, excursion and entertainment. 2 Bottle of drinking water provided daily. The price of the food is not so expensive than I thought it would be. A can of beer cost around US$6. Our host Shan is definitely a huge bonus to our trip. He made us feel that we are well taken care of and explained everything in detail. Absolutely amazing. We will be back again!

This is the only place I have ever visited that could truly be referred to as Paradise!
We spent two weeks at Vilu Reef and there was not a single thing we could complain about or find fault with, the staff were amazing, the food was sublime with a different theme every day and the Beach Villa we stayed in was faultless.
The diving was mind blowing with exceptionally warm water and great visibility.
Snorkeling within the island was second to none, with beautiful Corals and an expanse of fish, baby sharks and rays.
My personal number 1 place to revisit.
