Set on the island commonly known as Horubadhoo, located in Baa atoll 118 km Northwest of Malé. This island has luxury villas and suites with magnificent views of the Indian Ocean. With two world-class restaurants and four vibrant bars and lounges. A 30 minute domestic flight (Wheeled aircraft) ride from Velana International Airport.
Nice vegetation and two high quality tennis courts are the best on this island.

One of the best island in Maldives. Well trained staff. Ambiance is too good. Peaceful place having gym center sports centers. Good food available. Can even get some good vegetarian food. Best island at the cheap rate in Maldives. Loved even travelling from Maldives to island.

Small Maldives island, nice bungalowes, plenty of activities, wifi all around including bungalow. Wide selection of food, cleanest. Some of the staff very friendly, but some of the waiters are bit arrogant and standoffish. Sometimes by the tide you can smell waste water.
Nice destination for snorkeling due tu wide range of fishes on the reef.

Royal island is one of the best scenic place with great customer service make sure you go with Full board (complete 3 time meal). My experience was good except for 3 factors
    1. They goofed up my booking of beach villa with a garden villa. I had paid for beach villa yet i had to stay in garden villa for a night but of course they compensated
    2. They had us leave early on last day our flight was at 4.30 in eve. But yet still we had to pack our bags and leave at 7am but they gave us free lounge access in male airport
    3. The travel to this island is hectic. From male need to get another plane till Dharavandhoo and then a jet boat. We had reached male by 2pm but yet we reached island by 6pm. My advise is try to get an island nearby to Male where you have to get only a speed boat.

I’m not sure how this resort received 5 stars in comparison to other 5 star resorts in the Maldives. Almost everything was average or below average with the exception of the Shark and Sting Ray feeding which is a must do if you stay here.

You don’t get the value for your money. The food and buffet options were limited and it was more common to find canned tuna on the menu than something “5 star” worthy.

The tours from the resort don’t run unless you get the minimum number of people signed up so it’s very likely if you’re planning to snorkel or see marine life, you may not get the chance of enough people don’t sign up.

Very poor communication overall, especially in regards to our return transfers from Male international airport. We didn’t find out until 9:00 PM the night before we left what time we were leaving the next morning (with departure times that can be as early as 4/5:00 AM).

Rooms were outdated and no conditioner or lotion is offered in the bathrooms.

My recommendation would be to skip this place and spend a little more to stay at a true 5 star resort or spend a little less and stay at a 4 star resort. This place really missed the mark on all accounts.

Really good place for a vacation. The staff are always helpful, they always have a smile on their face. The restaurant was good, I appreciate the effort to have a thematic night every night, even though the food wasn't always the best representation for the theme - buy the quality never suffered! The room was always very clean, since it's a beach villa I was expecting sand everywhere, but t I my surprise there wasn't any sand inside, because they clean the rooms twice a day.

diveOceanus started its operations at Royal Island on the 10th of July 2015. The location of the dive centre is in Baa Atoll of Maldives Royal Island Resort prime location is within the radius of the UNESCO declared Biosphere Reserve, UNESCO made its declaration on 28th September 2011. Royal Island is just 20min a boat trip away from the world famous site of Hanifaru Bay. With some of the best dive sites in Baa Atoll the dive centre offers daily two a two tank dive trip by boat and a single tank dive in the afternoon. The resort also has a rich house reef for divers and is accessible from the dive Centre jetty.
Baa Atoll is rich in marine life encounters and blessed with dive sites of “Thilas , channels and coral gardens. The atoll itself is tranquil warm and offers the best of diving. Manta Rays are seen in record numbers from early June and whale sharks are also sighted during dives and snorkeling. A perfect getaway dive location where you can enjoy peace together with safety quality and comfort.

It was excellent. From the manager to the lower staffs everyone was very kind, helpful, friendly. It is a romantic place not only for couples but also for familys with children. The views, sea and plants are amasing. This is accompanied by great food for diffrent tastes. Although during my stay in September there was a hard rainy day I enjoyed it as well as the remaining suny days . But You should take in the consideration the best time to visit the Maldives is from February to May.

My wife and I visited the Royal Island in August 2016 for our honeymoon. I will simply echo the thoughts of most reviewers when I state that it was one of the most beautiful places on earth.

We were given room 177 on the far side of the island which is quieter and better for swimming around in. Everything was immaculate abd the open shower was a great first time experience. I miss the island, the sounds, the food and of course the staff terribly.

I hope to return in future and see some of the staff who we miss dearly.

Amazing resort, small villas are right at the beach. Staff is very friendly. It's a hidden gem - the island feels very natural, villas are hidden under the trees so whole island looks quite virgin without too many tourists. There is also lot of animals living on the island, you can easily spot lizards, megabats, geckos and various birds. Snorkeling is also amazing even when you are first timer like us :-)
We could see lots of different fish, shark, ray and also octopus. You can also rent various sport equipment, snorkeling gear is for free.
