Maldives, Baa Atoll, Finolhu.
After three different flights and a speed boat transfer to "Finolhu Resort" our expectation were felt immediately upon stepping onto the jetty.
The resort is Beautiful, clean and well laid out and the staff are of the highest caliber, they make you feel very welcome and look after your needs and take the time to chat with you. The trip package we purchased through Luxury Escapes catered for what my partner and I wanted and the Finolhu Resort exceeded every bit of it. We could not be happier.
The Chefs and Bar staff made every meal worth coming back for more and the selection was outstanding with different themes every night of our stay.
In fact All the Staff were fabulous in making this stay something special.
My partner and I agree and we will definitely be coming back for a second stay and I will be bragging about this place to family and friends.
So if you want a place to come and relax, party, take to the water activities, eat, drink and have a wonderful experience, then Finolhu Resort is the place to try.
We will be back..

I had an amazing week here at the end of March.
The villa was fantastic, over water with a private pool. There is also direct access to the ocean for swimming and snorkelling, and an deck for relaxing and enjoying the sunset
The food was usually good, and on some occasions truly excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful.
It is difficult to think of anything that could have made my stay more pleasant

Great location, good facilities, and very friendly staff
Unfortunately there was not enough of them.
I’ve not spent so long waiting for basic services.

Every morning we were seated at breakfast and asked “tea or coffee” each time “tea” was our response. 6 our of 7 days a pot of tea arrived at our table at least 10-15 minutes later, and only after we reminded a member of staff a couple of times.

We called house keeping to get a iron first one turned up within 10 minutes (no issue with that, fairly quick)
Unfortunately it failed to get hot, a quick call to house keeping to explain and ask for another. Over 1 hour later and 4 calls, second iron arrived and once again not fit for purpose.
Extremely frustrated we walked to management and got a 3rd working iron delivered to our room while we was at dinner.

One night after waiting for 20 minutes for the bill after dinner, we simply walked out! (We did sign for the meal the next day)

There is a very limited waiter service around the pool and it’s pretty much non existent any where on the beach. So be prepared to be going up to the bar each and every time you want a drink. (if your not all inclusive & have to pay be prepared to still pay “service tax” for the drink you had to collect.)

Ignore the services advertised on the website as the “free dive course” I was looking forward to participating in, is no longer available (as “instructor left the island 4-5 months ago)
I did not pack a razor as the spa advertises a barber. After the 3rd day in a row of being told “he’s not into day, maybe tomorrow” I gave up.

We had a couple of days where the wind picked up and blew. This caused a very loud whistling between the doors of our lagoon villa. At about 2am I stuffed a towel into the gap. (I can’t stress quite how loud the whistling was)

The many lights in the villa seemed to need switching on in some strategic code, the bathroom lights would only turn on (from switch in bathroom) if the switch next to the bed was on. Equally a different switch next to the bed would turn the lights under the sinks on, then when flicked to turn the sink lights off the main wall lights in the bathroom would come on! These lights would take turns on being a lite or off until a switch that turned the decking lights on was switched off.
Needless to say it did not give us much faith in the electrics in general.

Despite all the issues I did enjoy my time there. The staff that we did interact with were very polite and helpful.

The water activity centre was excellent and staff there were spot on.

In short I won’t be going back but did have a good time. (But could and should have been much much better)

Just WOW.Thanks to a Luxury Escapes package we have enjoyed unprecedented service, great food, unlimited drinks, and some ģreat entertainment. We made our own fun by meeting new friends whilst enjoying this magical place. The water is so blue and crystal clear. The rooms are excellent, luxurious and very well thought out. Deck chairs/ lounge, day bed, fridge, little desk, massive bed, bath with ocean view, etc. The tv is connected to a Marshal speaker, that also supports Bluetooth and line in, so you get great loud sound. You can swim straight out of the back of your room. The room is serviced twice a day. The rooms have 2 outdoor showers, one private and one on the deck. You can relax in seclusion or party at the local pool bar or secluded crab shack bar. Free ferries, and island hopping is available depending on your package. Its cheaper to include everything you want up front and yes any extra is expensive, but the choice is yours. You have to appreciate the effort involved in having food shipped in daily and and all power and water desalination generated on the island. The hundreds of staff that live and work on the island are the nicest people on earth. Its amazing really.

Beautiful resort. Seaplane in a bit long though, stopping alot at other resorts. We actually found the boat & normak plane back to be better. We stayed in over water villas which had ladder access to sea & lagoon from the private sun deck with pool. Very modern and we'll fitted out. Good snorkelling even though coral had bleached in the Maldives a year or two earlier. Good sea life. Fantastic Food and drinks overall, crab shack a shining star. Service was fantastic. Went in first week of off season so not too busy and weather was fab except 1 day. Pay extra to go in guaranteed good weather as not much to do when it is bad weather. Highlight was a sunset/under the stars massage and facial on beach which the spa helped me arrange for our honeymoon. Staff were amazing throughout. Highly recommended for a beach holiday escape, especially if a special occasion.

The Village was amazing, with modern buildings, a pool, a gym, a bar and four different restaurants. In the main one, the food was not so good, while in the others, which were the Chinese, the Arabic and the local one from the Maldives, were very good. Each of them had a different menu, while the main one had a different type of dishes each day.

The coral reef was not so big, and you had to swim a bit to get to the most beautiful one. The shape of the island caused you to walk more, but you could always call a golf car, which could take you wherever you wanted.

We loved our stay at Finolhu. We took our kids along and they enjoyed the kids club and all the activities. The rooms are brand new, spacious and with access to a private pool and ocean. The food options are great, ranging from chinese to north african. The crab shack is a great spot for lunch and a cocktail. DJ Jaffa playing the best tunes next to the pool. Perfect holiday destination!
