  Eydhafushi is the capital island of Baa Atoll. It has the highest population in the atoll and also most of the government offices and public facilities. Eydhafushi houses the Atoll Council, Back of Maldives Eydhafushi Branch, Post Office, Dhiraagu and Ooredoo experience centers, Regional Police Station, Atoll Hospital, Media Center, several shops and other facilities.
  One of the growing issues at Eydhafushi is the growing temperatures. The island is sometimes referred as "hell" by some people due to high temperatures, especially during mid-day. Due to lack of space, trees at homes were cut down. To lay tar on the main roads, the tall trees on streets were also cut down recently. There were no sufficient greening programs held to make up for the cutting down of trees. The results are dusty streets snd growing temperatures.
  There island was recently reclaimed, growing the island's size to almost double. However, after the recent reclamation also, there were no greening programs conducted to overcome the issue of growing temperatures. The end result is the island becoming hotter day by day.
  Soneva Fushi resort planted trees at the island’s harbor some years back. However, the program did not proceed smoothly due to lack of proficient support.
