It's a gorgeous island with a great beach and a massive lagoon. Cocoon's vegetation hasn't been affected too much so it retains an air of a proper tropical island. Lots of skinks and colourful lizards. Plus some lovely sea birds frequent the island.
The rooms are neat, with clean lines, furniture is courtesy of Italian designer Lago. Bathrooms are spacious with an outdoor shower area.
Dining is great too, the main restaurant packs quite a bit of variety with Asian, Italian and other continental fare. Good selection of salads for vegans. Staff are pretty attentive and super friendly.
Definitely a place I'd could come back to.

This is my first time in Cocoon and first time ever in Maldives too. The premise is to say I haven't got many terms of comparison here, but for sure our experience in Cocoon has been nothing less than stellar so far. We're now through day 4 of our week long vacation and we're definitely impressed.

Airport welcoming, seaplane experience (~45 minutes from Male TMA Terminal), hotel welcoming, food offering, activities, night entertainment: all items are checked with full marks.
We're staying in a Beach Villa and we really feel it fits our needs: as fascinating an overwater accommodation can be, it looks to be a bit impractical especially if you like to lay down on the sand.
The room has air conditioning (a must!), minimal furniture and this cool Maldives influenced restroom with a swing. The plants surrounding the room preserve your privacy and cast the illusion of having your own personal spot in paradise.
As said before, the food offering is excellent and every day the dinner buffet has a special theme.

Free activities (snorkeling, kayaking) should keep you busy throughout the day but you also have the option to pay some extra and enjoy kite surfing, ski jet rides, scuba diving lessons and more.
Personally, we went for the Island Hopping offer (90$ per person) which includes a visit to the nearby local island, snorkeling in selected area, dolphins spotting and lunch on a sandbank. All these activities are best enjoyed in small groups.

The landscape is incredible and the water crystal clear.

Overall we feel very satisfied with our stay so far.
    Still, there's room for improvement:
    - As someone else noted in their own reviews, cocktails available in the all-inclusive list are poorly executed: we tried 5 of them and they all tasted excessively sugary and with little to no alcohol. We didn't dare ordering the "paid version" of such cocktails, but it's a bit disappointing you have to pay extra to possibly get a proper drink. The only good booze we had was plain tequila during the Latino night
    - ‎Our welcome kit in the room was supposed to include a beach bag, which we couldn't find anywhere. We notified this to the reception and they committed on providing one, but we never received anything. This is, to me, just a minor detail
    - ‎As soon as we got in our room, we found a half smoked cigar laying around in the shower area. We got rid of it immediately but definitely we didn't expect to have to deal with such surprises
    - ‎Overall I got nothing to complain about the food but occasionally we've found some dishes being way too salty (lasagna, lamb) and some desserts being approximate (the mernigue on the lemon tart was too rough as you could feel all the sugar crystals inside)
    - ‎Despite being delivered in a non professional way, I totally loved the open air cinema concept and honestly wished for more during the week. This activity is definitely refreshing and provides a good alternative for all the people who are not in the mood for partying every night

Despite these few annoyances, our stay at Cocoon got me pleasantly surprised and satisfied.
Also, you can feel management is taking constructive criticism seriously and addressing many downsides I read about in other reviews: that's definitely a positive mindset and the way to go to excel.

Beautiful hotel. The villas are amazing! At night you can see some really beautiful fishes swimming by the stairs. The service was prompt and courteous and the restaurant is pretty good. It's a paradise.

The place is just as amazing as all other hotels around. However, the "all-inclusive" plan is quite far from including everything you would expect at a resort in this price range. The drinks are rubbish except for water and beer, expect to pay prime for any decent booze. The 3 meals are good but the bar snacks and room service are charged extra. All activities except snorkel and kayak are paid and quite expensive. In summary, terrible value but you'll probably forget about money in this place anyways.

Been here just for 3 days out of a 7 days booking. The beauty of the island is breathtaking. I was a bit disappointed with the weather since it was a bit grey, windy and occasionally it would rain, but today the sun shined unveiling in full glory the sheer beauty of the island and its crystal clear water.

Regarding the Hotel itself, Cocoon Maldives I have nothing bad to say. Rooms are modern looking and cleaned (I stayed in one of the Lagoon Villas). Staff clean the room twice a day which is great. The food is good with enough choice for every taste.
Staff is always warm and very polite.

There are activities available for those that like to stay active. Water skies, snorkeling, diving, paddle surf, etc.

It is a quite place, even though the hotel is at or near full capacity you don't run into many people. If you are looking for crazy nights at a big resort, look elsewhere (you can always go to the bar or throw your own personal party ;)).

Would recommend this island and resort without hesitation.

I moved to cocoon hotel from sheraton full moon, where I lived at a beach house for two days as platinum member; sheraton is close to the Male, slightly more expensive than cocoon food and spa wise. I took the boat from sheraton to Male, taking sea plane cocoon in the afternoon, which took me about 40 minutes. I lived at a water villa, which cocoon people refers to as lagoon villa. Food is nice with chef from Italy. Nice desserts, as they are made fresh in the morning, as confirmed by a very good looking Italian waitress from Naples. The room design is succinct and modern, which I like. The only downsides is that it's a new resort, only reachable by sea plane, running the latest 5:30pm. If your flight to make came late than 4:30, you might have to stay in Male or other hotels close accessible by speedboats. Also, the lagoon villas are nice in the day time, but there is no lamp for illumination on the desk if you want to write or read on the desk. Maybe it would be better there is options to lend a lamp. -amazing views and providing options for island hopping and water sports

Great resort with friendly staff. The food was absolutely amazing with a good variety.

On the down side They need more umbrellas by the pool side, water sports center was not very organised.

Other than that it was an unforgettable stay, highly recommend.

Amazing place, highly recommend it! The staff was very polite and always on hand to help. No request was too big for them and they went out of their way to make us comfortable. The physical setting is beautiful - we saw octopus, stingrays, baby reef sharks and lots of other fish literally right outside our lagoon villa.
Finally the food --very very good. Breakfast buffet is amazing. Desserts in particular are good. We asked for a custom made Indian meal two afternoons and the staff happily accommodated us, that was probably one of the best meals I've ever had at a a hotel. Thank you Ram and team for making our stay an absolutely amazing and unforgettable one!
