This is an excellent island for going on a picnic. I have been here quite a lot of times since my childhood, because it is next to my home island. There have been several environmentally detrimental things that people do at the island. One of the growing issue is the issue of waste. People go for picnic here and throw waste here. Throwaway plastic packets, bottles, platic bags, etc. is the norm. It is extremely sad to see people do this. The main issue here, in my opinion, is that of awareness among people. People need to be made aware that throwing garbage is detrimental to the environment, which in turn affects everyone including themselves. Recently, newer generations seem to be more aware of these issues. It is happy to see this change. However, we need everyone to be aware, in order to totally overcome these issues. Recently, with the introduction of guest houses, there is a significant improvement to the waste issue, partly because it is now easier for people to understand the damage that they are doing if they throw waste, and partly because employees of guest houses clean the island before sending guests there. This is an excellent island for picnics, which is also close to our hearts, so we need to keep it that way.
Bodufinolhu is a public picnic island located near Thulhaadhoo Island. Its in the same lagoon with Thulhaadhoo, and many people from Thulhaadhoo come to this place during holidays. Most of the weekends also this place is highly visited. Very nice and clean island..
