Description

ALU is pioneering a fresh approach to university education in the 21st century; offering accredited undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in a unique and imaginative way.

By integrating students’ learning with the real world, empowering students to take ownership of their own learning, equipping each student to think entrepreneurially, and employing the most engaging and inspiring teaching methods, ALU has been dubbed ‘the university of the future’.

ALU develops skills in its graduates to ensure they will remain relevant even as the world changes. It also develops its students intellectually, provides them with work experience, and develops their whole being. ALU is opening 25 campuses around Africa that will ultimately train 3 million entrepreneurial, ethical leaders for Africa and the world by 2060. Although based in Africa, ALU welcomes students from all around the world to its campuses.

ALU’s inaugural campus is known as African Leadership College (ALC) and is located on the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius . ALU has a second accredited institution in Rwanda which currently offers ALU’s flagship postgraduate program, the Master’s in Business Administration (MBA). ALU also offers a Study Abroad Programme which offers an immersive study experience to students from around the world interested in preparing themselves for university or work.

"We all faced a pivotal moment almost 2 years ago when we joined ALUSB program, and this is another such moment. Our choice now is to either continue with life as we have been living it or to step into an African century with boldness and courage and determination." Jess Roussos, ALU School of Business Graduate. Very proud to hear our team member Jess Roussos sharing these powerful words during ALUSB first ever graduation ceremony. Congratulations Jess!

6,000 days before Africa has the largest workforce in the world. ALU is transforming higher education on the continent by educating and empowering young leaders to be problem-solvers and tackle challenges of today and the future - from healthcare, to infrastructure, to food, security, and conservation.

Our all-staff gathering focused on just that, and the countdown has begun. Will you join the movement? #WorkAtALU

This is how our All Staff Re-onboarding kicked off last week in ALC Mauritius - with an amazing race through Port Louis! Everyone split into random teams to solve sudokus, hunt down clues embedded in the capital’s history, and run through the charming streets of (as Mauritians fondly call it) Porlwi. #WorkAtALU

Elie Habimana is the operations lead in ALU Rwanda and his role involves ensuring that day-to-day life on campus and housing is seamless, even more so now that construction is underway.

When he isn't too caught up making life easier for the rest of us, Elie likes to spend his free time going on hikes and playing squash. You'll most likely bump into him on a weekend night at a live music show or searching for the best burgers in town.

Elie is a blues/rock guitarist and in fact, his cover of Drake’s Hotline Bling was featured on Journal - a pan-African storytelling platform based in Rwanda.

Last Saturday, ALU Rwanda had it's ALU Awards Gala. The theme for the event was African Black Tie.

ALU Awards are a community event historically organised by ALU students to recognize and celebrate fellow community members who have made significant and outstanding contributions to modelling our values and bring ALU to life.

Congratulations to the inaugural class for their hard work and bringing this tradition to life at ALU Rwanda. You rock!

Here we go again for our second all staff retreat in Mauritius in this beautiful location!

Today we are focusing on getting a better understanding of our Global Challenges degree program. We can’t wait to go back to being students and designing our own program. What an exciting day ahead!

Cheshna Ramlochun started her journey at ALU in 2017 as an Admissions Support Assistant. Soon after, she got an opportunity to transition to the Marketing Team and is now the Executive Assistant to the Chief Marketing Officer.

Cheshna has always been passionate about education and joining ALU has drawn her closer to her passion. “My belief is when a girl gets an education, she learns more than reading and arithmetic. She learns how important she is, and how to stand up for her rights and pursue her dreams.”

For Cheshna, being at ALU has been an amazing learning experience. What she likes most about ALU is its culture: the people and opportunities for professional growth.

Cheshna is a dab hand at cooking and loves trying new food recipes. She is also fond of swimming and makes it a must to practice her swimming skills at least thrice a week!
