Staff doesn't have a way to talk to the patient. Teach them some manners even if they are talking to children or elderly they should know how to talk.

Like we're in a jungle. Appointment not set according to doctor shifts/ availability. I had to wait half day for the specialist doctor to arrive as appointment was not set according. Arrogant and rude non medical staff at surgery department. Too bad Google didn't have the option of zero star. Very poor service. Will need a miracle to up the service.

The toilets are not clean and the doors don't close.. when u need to use the toilets you must pray that someone don't see you doing ur business in there..a hospital must always be clean..

A real mix of modern and colonial infrastructure giving most services properly. The service is excellent at most occasions. Waiting time varies depending on the unit

Its a mauritian hospital hence free. There's also a cardiac centre therefore it can get very crowded. Very little parking space, you have been warned. The general area is often affected by traffic jams too.

If you are in a serious condition, go to a clinic. Poor support there!

There are lots of bad reviews here. Please try to understand, Mauritius has a corrupt government. Victoria hospital is 100% free. They need government to fund them.

some of the medical staff are very kind and helpful but otherswhat to say
need more young and dynamic staff. i understand that it's quite a challenge to work in such an environment but continuous training for staff will be beneficiali myself have been a medical staff abroad for more than a decade, we used to have talks and training every month to boost up our morale and provide good care to patients and their family

There is nothing positive to say about this hospital and the only reason I have rated 1 star is because you can't rate 0 stars.
I arrived into Maurtius from Australia to visit my grandmother in this hospital and what I saw left me shocked and disgusted.
There is no basic hygiene in this poor excuse for a hospital. Staff are rude, lazy and do not even provide basic care for patients. They sit in an office and do nothing while the place is absolutely filthy with even a stray dog wandering into the ward. Needless to say we moved my grandmother to a private clinic where we then found out that she had an infection which they never even mentioned.
I wonder what their mortality rate is?
This place is completely inhumane and I wouldn't leave an animal there.
I have never seen anything as disgusting as this hospital and staff in my life. The only hope for this hospital is to be knocked down, staff fired and start completely anew with a staff that have compassion and are qualified. What I saw yesterday and heard made me question the qualifications of the nurses and doctors.
Advice to everyone if you can remove your loved ones from this place otherwise they will probably not make it.

Spoke to one of the Nursing Officer Mrs/Miss Sutaloo who is based on a female ward . She was very helpful and polite and gave me a brief description of my mother-in-law's state and answered all my questions accordingly. I was a bit surprised that she was so calm in manner and so down to earth as I was expecting otherwise. Hats off to you Miss/Mrs Sutaloo !!!
