Very beautiful and well maintained.
very beautiful, peaceful and religious
A yearly pilgrimage to this holy place is a must for most Hindus of Mauritius. This place is secluded in the middle of sugar cane fields, giving a calm, serene environment, appropriate for introspective meditation. The facilities are well maintained, clean and professionally managed (there are parking wardens helping drivers ar peak seasons!).
Tourists may find this experience quite interesting, far from the throngs of Grand Bassin.

This is one of the sacred place of Mauritius. Tookay goddess is one of the incarnation of goddess durga. It is a tamil temple.
This kovil has a somewhat miraculous ambiance. From the entrance you will spot the main towering structure with intricate and ornate figurines. Unfortunately the place fell victim to vandalism a few months ago and some of the damage is still visible. That does not remove the vibrations you feel when you arrive for worship. The priests maintain a strict code of behaviour for worshippers and that upholds the integrity of the kovil. There are specific days for main pooja but these days are always packed and I'd suggest getting there a little early. I attended the Tuesday pooja - it was exilerating. Due to repairs the main kovil will remain closed for the next 5-6 months but prayers are still being conducted. I would highly recommend this kovil for any seeker.
