Great place and the Staff as well are very nice as always and helpful. Can't wait for Air Mauritius to get back on its feet again!
Flying out from Mauritius was surprisingly smooth after the airport was closed for a few days because of the cyclone. On the other side flying in in the middle of the night will require 2-3 hours to get through the immigration. So make sure you take your time and be prepared. No food and water vending machines in the area for incoming visitors. Something to consider for the SSR management.
This is in South of Mauritius.
It is only airport in Mauritius.
The check in time is quite bless as compared to other airport(based on my experience).
You can buy chocolates and other stuffs from duty free shop which are reasonable in nature.
You can find souvenir's also for friend's/ families but quite expensive.
You can also have varieties of food here .
While taking off you can see whole green Mauritius.
Had visited Mauritius in the year 2014 and just found our old pics so writing this review.
Lovely airport in Mauritius with many flights connect flights between airlines to get you to your different routes. On my last visit, I was disappointed with the pass port and health department at the airport. They had no man power to service getting off international flights and they are very slow to services us. The airport is very clean and small with essential shops to pick up gifts for loved ones back home.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport of Mauritius is not very big yet good airport. After taking off from Mumbai airport, you may find this airport as a very normal and an average airport but landing experience was too picturesque. The water changes its shade as and when you start descending to Mauritius airport.
Airport Terminal is very awesome. Trendy ! Looks very modern. Staffs inside the airport are very helpful. Restrooms are well maintained. They provide free wifi for half an hour and 3 hours for those who install the airport app. You have cafe And currency exchange centers inside. Currency exchange centers provides zero percentage commission.
I have been to Mauritius 9 times so far and I must say, never have I been to a worse airport as far as the service and staff goes. As much as I love Mauritians and their friendliness, staff at the airport are unfriendly and seriously annoying for no reason. I have travelled a bit but this is the absolute worst airport experience I have ever experienced. ..9 times in a row nonetheless!! If I did not have to go to Mauritius I would probably avoid it just for the airport experience..
Modern airport in the Indian Ocean. I really like the place. The security is amazing. Very polite staffs. This airport was created under the Labour Party government with an objective of providing world class services to Mauritian and to all the guests coming to our island. It is indeed a jewel for the island and I hope that it keeps getting better in the future. Note: there is also an unofficial spot, on your way to Beau Vallon, where you can stop by and watch airplanes landing on the tarmac. Marvellous.
Before departure, there are only two cafe for snacks, Cafe Lux and Tropical Break. The restaurant area on Level 2 is not yet ready. After custom, you will find Subway, Tropical Break and Paul (the famous bakery). Unfortunately, there is no money exchange store available after custom so we can't change back the rupees. The business lounges are located on both left and right ends, make sure you go to the right one.
The upgrades to the airport are good. The officials are strict . They are concerned about travellers bringing foreign diseases onto the island. If youre from Africa they will ask you whether youve been in a malaria area in the past six months. If you are coughing ,have a fever etc they will check on you at the place where you are staying, the following day. They take it seriously which is understandable. The parking at the airport is hectic but there are lots of taxis and the prices vary. There is an Atm at the airport to exchange currency but it is hard to find. Best ask an official to direct you.
Fairly standard airport although the woman at security very nearly didn't let me through as I'd grown a beard since my passport photo was taken. However on the way back my flight was delayed 7 hours so I was stuck there at night. One small cafe of sorts was open but apart from that there was nothing. There was a kid's play area that a couple cleverly decided to sleep in..
Wow the airport is obviously awesome. I loved it the most. Takeoff and landing inspires me a lot.
Modern airport that caters for a large volumes of international flights/passengers. The amenities are decent, there is a Cafe Lux and a Subway. There are counters for some banks, but having a branch would assist international travelers when problems arise.
air port is far from the capital port louis. decent airport, well connected with flights coming from all over the world.
Small efficient Airport. You need to have all your paperwork handy to get in, else you will have a problem. Parking is too small for the volume of cars to park.
Now the airport is much better. U have subway, cafe lux and one tropical cafe The lounge serves a variety of Mauritian and international cuisine. Lovely experience. I was traveling business class so I had lounge access. Else u can pay 2000 Mauritian to access at the time of boarding n enjoy unlimited drinks and food
Nice airport. Cabs available outside for 600rps to take you to Blue Bay.
Airport looks new but lacks basic necessities. Only small number of food joints, no money changer, could not see ATM machines, phone charging outlet very limited, security staffs not friendly and limited shopping outlets.
Although it's much better than the previous airport building this one lacks decent choice for meals,in other words there's no restaurant here! The electric outlets to recharge phones are ridiculously few in numbers and most sockets are already out of order. But a good mark for the prayer room (Muslim).
Airport good service!! Different cafe, at departure and arrival terminals. Improving other services
This airport is one of my favorite airports, the reason why this airport is outstanding is because the airport is small, so when the plane lands and taxies it is very easy for us to get our bags and get a taxi.

The airport looks modern from outside, but inside it does not have all the latest facilities.
There is not enough food options inside or pharmacy.
The immigration officers have got poker faces and not very friendly. After you pick your suitcase, if you are not a Mauritian you can go through the customs and arrivals.
However, if you are a Mauritian, a big drama is awaiting. They will ask you to scan all your belongings. Open your suitcase and check everything. Some people have even been asked to give stuffs away by the customs officers so that they can go through.
Medium small sized airport.. Lack of food options.. not great duty free shops..
Arrival visa procedure simple.
Beautiful and majestic. A small island having such a good facilitated airport is a worth.
There is a lack of food options within the airport, so if you're travelling you are best off eating before you arrive at the airport.
Once you have passed through security, there is a Subway (although there were only 3 sub choices, they had run out of everything else) and a couple of coffee shops selling cake, hot drinks and sandwiches. There were signs for other restaurants, although these were all closed in March 2017 - it's unclear whether they were closed for refurbishment or not yet completed.
There is also a duty free store with the usual items on sale.
I expected more from an airport which recently cost $300 million to construct. If i had a choice, i would not return.
Very modern and beautiful airport. The service there is just awesome with nice and affordable souvenir shops. 👍👍
Fantastic Airport! Very new and morden.
Arrivals:
Quick disembarkment from the plane. Short queues in Customs and bags arrive pretty quickly on the baggage belts. Good sized Duty Free with a range of goods. Well organised arrival procces.
Departures:
Quick check in and security. Fantastic large fully stocked Duty Free after security. Plenty of seating while waiting for your flight. A small range of shops and a good restaurant serving hot meals for a reasonable price. The Air Mauritius Amédée Maingard Lounge is fantastic: it is very comfortable, has a good buffet, Wi-Fi, TV and a children's play area.
Overall a great little airport representing the wonderful island of Mauritius.
Very pleasant surprise. I didn't expect such a good service and modern airport on this small island. Everything was smooth and perfect. We also bought souvenirs there for very reasonable price - after some haggling of course :)
