Thoroughly enjoyed my trip to the distillery. Beautiful setting to enjoying premiere rum. They have only been up and running for 10yrs, however their aged rums are well matured spending 6yrs in a French oak barrel, after which they are finished off with 1yr in a favour forming barrel (red wine, white wine or whiskey).
great place to visit if your not driving. Enjoy the free samples of the 7 sisters (different rums ) and pay the little extra and enjoy sampling the 3 aged rums. Then nip outside to enjoy fresh pancakes topped with sugar /coconut and more rum. Great staff wonderful place to visit but don't drive there!!!!
The Rhumerie de Chamarel is a great place to visit.
First, the landscape is really nice, as well as the road to go to the distillery.
Moreover, the visit itself is great as you can really understand how they product rum (and other drinks based on rum) from the fields to the bottles. You can also try rums and buy rums here.
Small sugar cane distillery. Worth visiting if you are in the area and with some time to spare however may not be worth a dedicated visit.
You will definitely sample more then what you pay in entrance fee😀
Rum production runs from July to December. During this period you will be able to see all the machinery's in operation. Out of this period maintenance is being carried out.
Class act, one of my favorite experiences on the island of Mauritius! Looking forward to many returns. Thank you for the amazing blessings! I think your products should be distributed throughout South Africa. Thank you to my fiance for making all my dreams come true.
One of the best tours on the island. Its a must do. Whether you going there for the first time or second you will never get board of the place. The tastings are a must do. Also spend a little extra and have some lunch at the place. It will be worth it.
I found the bottles cheaper and more convenient to buy at duty free on the way out of the country.
Most fun I've had on a rum tour. Beautiful location. The rum is really good for such a young distillery. Highly recommend tasting the VS and XO
Best place to taste rum. While others let you choose at max 1 or 2 rums to taste, here you get nearly the whole program. Free tour when you eat in the restaurant. Not a good veg choice. But they did a nice dish on request.
The restaurant was amazing! Great food, affordable pricing considering location, friendly staff. The rum tour is informative and you are able to taste all nine rum varieties produced there. Great setting to spend the afternoon on a hot day
I love this place. Everything was awesome there. I had a great time. Make sure you are not the driver on that day as the rhum tasting makes you quite drunk after a couple of shots. You should definitely try all the flavors. My favorite was the vanilla liquor. The visit is in english and in french also. Don't forget to try the cocktail also.
Typical touristic trap! An incredibly non-informative tour in a very big group, the visit is super short and it's only purpose is to taste and Buy! The landscape and garden at the entry are lovely but the ticket price is a complete rip off for this short and disappointing tour!
The tour guide's description of process of making rum from sugarcane is quite boring and dull, but that doesn't mean they're not professionals. Probably after dealing with thousands of visitors everyday, some kind of mototone is a must. The tasting of different rums and then the scenery are the best here. The view is awesome, quite contrary to the familiar beach and oceanic canvases of Mauritius. The souvenir shop is quite under budget and the restaurant is quite up, but worth try. Seafood platter is enjoyable. The parking is quite bigger and the road to reach here is quite thrilling.
I highly recommend a visit of this distillery. Guided tour is available in English as well as in French. The rum produced here is of very good quality and the visitor can taste up to 8 different types of rum. There is a supplement charged to taste the extra old rum of higher standard, but it is worthwhile. The staff is courteous. It is advisable to go and visit before lunch.
My favourite excursion in Mauritius! Worth going to for the restaurant alone. The food is absolutely delicious and as an added bonus you get free entry to the museum including the rum tasting. The factory itself is quite small, so it's easy to get around. The rum tasting is great, you get to make your own cocktail and then taste around 10 rums. Definitely better to do on a full stomach, so check out the restaurant first.
Nice but pretty expensive. I think the entrance fees where 375rupees, which included a tour and a rum tasting. The location itself is very nice and the staff is very friendly, however: you can buy the rums in their outlet store but they are much cheaper in the public super markets around the corner, which I considered as a rip off.The coconut liquor for example cost 550 rupees at the Rhumerie and 476 in the supermarket (Super U) See picture
Definitely this is one of these place you should visit. Very nice factory, restaurant and place where rhum is tasting.
Really beautiful spot to visit. Really nice rum just watch out if you're driving because they're quite generous with their tasting
Lovely tour and probably the best rum I have ever tasted. Would love to go back there!
Beautiful spot and a terrific little rum distillery. Definitely worth taking the 20 minute free tour as at the end they will provide lots of free samples. Restaurant is outrageously priced for good but not terrific food. Decent gift shop. Tour buses stop here often. So make a reservation a day in advance if you want to eat.
