Traditional pagoda where Sino-mauritians pay respect to their ancestors. Each has a small wooden tablet with portrait and chinese name.
传统的祠堂,毛里求斯华人祭祖的寺庙。
Common sacrificial items in order before the ancestor shrine: tea, 5 cups of wine, fresh fruits & Pot pan cake (or usually biscuits), and finally meat (chicken, pork, fish from sky, land and sea). There's also paper money, paper clothes, red candles and candle sticks.
常用祭品按顺序摆在祖先牌位前是茶,酒五杯,鲜果,发粄(这边吃饼干多),而最后是献肉(从天,地,海三个来源,如鸡,豕,鱼)。另外还有纸钱,纸衣,红烛以及香烛。
Ritual procedure:
1. Whole family wakes up early.
2. Dust off the ancestor shrine.
3. Light up candle sticks (each holding 3 and bow thrice), offer sacrifices.
4. The eldest first bows, followed by others bowing hands together, silently making wishes.
5. Burn paper money and clothes (“Adressed to father Du Jun Wen” and “Sent from living son Du Lin Zhang” written on top).
6. Ritual completed.
祭礼流程:
1. 全家清早起身来
2. 清洁神主牌位
3. 上香(每人拿着三炷鞠躬三下),献茶果,酒菜等祭品
4. 由尊长首先参拜,其余人跟着双手合十再次鞠躬,默默许愿。
5. 开始烧纸钱,纸衣(写上“阳上儿杜粦章奉,先母侯环英奉)。
6. 礼成,退场。
