A wonderful scenic place but signage is poor and instructions given ahead of walk wee not explicit enough. We wanted an easy walk, followed the map and signs and ended up with medium difficulty which was terribly steep and huge mosquito swarms that bit us terribly and we had to rush back. Ended up doing 9kms but didn't reach any scenic views!
We were later told by the staff the signs are not correct! Suggest PLEASE have warning signs at start of such steep stretches, also warning re mosquito areas and stock repellent that visitors can buy, along with maps. Had following the map got us to the spot we intended, this would have indeed been 5 stars!
Breathtaking views, idyllic picnic area. Waterfalls are beautiful. You can climb to the top of one of the waterfalls and enjoy the views out to the shore
Stunning country and city. So happy to visit my homeland after 10 years, will be writing a book detailing an authentic guide to mauritius and the sites, as written by a British born Mauritian, with a long beautiful family history on the island.
A break from everything, depending on one's pace, the whole 9 kilometres would vary between 2 to 4 hours, the longest route though is the fastest as the pathway is flat while the most challenging one is filled with sloppy and very slippery tracks which ask for timely steps and stamina. The end of the track is blessed with a running stream. A GPS and an updated map will be most welcome.
Beautiful nature: love the streams, rivers, the climbing parts. A great natural reserve. Do not forget to apply your lotions against mosquitoes, bring your swimming gear, climbing shoes, water, lunch and camera photo. please collect back any litter. Highly recommended place.
Didn't have the chance to go deep on trail or hike up the highest peak. The viewpoints are all vehicle accessible so very easy to go. The views are stunning and breathtaking.
Very nice and cool place for peace. Really enjoyed my afternoon there.
Best is just to get lost and enjoy. Navigate back at the of the day. There are no fuel stations so fill up before you go.
Parking was free, plus both paths are well indicated. We were able to see some of the wildlife eg monkeys, the rare pink pigeon, colourful geckos. As well it is not crowded
Great for for full day hiking. Be sure to have a guide and I would say intermediate level hiking. Bring ropes, insect repellents, water, good shoes. Avoid raininy days. Ideal for nature lovers. Its a protected national parc and there are rivers ans waterfalls at the end of the track.
Nice view. Need time to trek along. Good for pictures.
The walk and view are excellent. The only hik about it all is the amount of rubbish plastic etc all along the path. Its a shame. Forestry guys should make an effort to keep the place tidy.
The very example how diverse the little island of Mauritius. It's very good paying visit here.
Wear good shoes. Runners or hiking. There is a clear path but there are many stones ended in it. Be prepared for some steeper hills. Viewpoi t is beautiful. One of the hikes is at least about 10km long. If you see black ponds in the trees like in the picture below, those are termite nests.
Highly recommended for those who like nature walks. Various tracks which are well indicated. Remember to bring mosquito cream and sunscreen. Best time to go is early morning. Bring ur breakfast and eat it there. Bins are available for garbage.
Some very nice view points. Walks are easy. Big paths. Main hiking route is more like a dirt road. Still worth a visit to enjoy nature in Mauritius.
It is the best place for nature lovers! You need to get out of routine and need some fresh and relaxing air, just go for it!
Really good place for exercising, and for picnics. Better appreciated by sportive people as we need to walk quite a bit.
Tropical bliss.. great for trekking. Be careful in rainy weather
Been here a few times it's absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and there has always been a monkey posing for photos ! :)
Best nature park in Mauritius. In the month of April, you can enjoy the red guavas.
Really clean and well maintained track to have a good hike. Amazing view over the valley and also nice view of the Tamarin bay. Bring some lunch and have it at one of the view points :)
Great park, not many paths, but those that exist are beautiful. Long lonely walks, nice riverbeds, mountains perfect. My favorite: parakeet trail lower part.
