Good location in the touristic village Grand Baie in the North. Walking distance from center, still quiet residential area. Nice clean rooms, very friendly owners, great value for money.

Make no mistake, although it's not next to the beach it is, nevertheless a great place to stay. Totally good value for money and the owners will certainly make you feel welcome. If you are on a budget then HIGHLY recommended.

Excellent value for money. Owners are very helpful and friendly. Within a 5 min walk from the centre of Grand Baie. Even though this value accommodation is not next to the beach, Grand Baie has a nice public beach to relax.

Nice apartment with a relaxing pond. The swoosh of the water fountain is soothing and it's just 10mins walk to the Grand bay beach.

I stayed here back in November for 3 nights after only planning on spending 2 nights. The owners were so nice and Gran Baie so laid back I just had to. The owner was like a living Buddha. So incredibly nice, smiley, helpful, and peaceful. His Finnish wife was also great to talk to, providing a foreigner's glimpse into Mauritian life. I think I was the first Yank they ever had stay with them. They lent me their own bike the night before so I could go get in 50 miles before the sun got too high in the sky and didn't charge me for two days, just the day I actually rode the bike. The rooms were huge and the linens very nice. Only at mid day did I feel the need to turn on the A/C which cooled the room right down. One of the best accomodation values I had during my 15-day vacation there. Well worth it!

The place is just down the street from this awesome little dim sum place (Boulette Ti Couloir (Lil' Hallway). I think it cost me just a couple of bucks each time I ate there and they had one of the best chili sauces I've ever had. The noodle shop in back was cheap as all hell, too, and the owner was so friendly I couldn't believe it. No wonder the places had a long line out the front door (as far as I could tell, they shared the same entrance) from the time they opened until they closed (you had to walk through they dim sum place to get to the noodle palce). The boulette (steamed ball /dim sum) place was literally 6 ft (2m) wide with a row of seats along the right had wall. You had to walk 20 ft (6m) through the shop (hallway) to get to the noodle place in back. That place was a bit wider, but not nearly as deep. Looked like a kitcen in someone's home and not much more, but they cranked out the food. With all the exoensive tourist places lining the main drag though Gran Baie and expensive tourist price, this place was a gem of a find. Not only was it cheap, but maybe two of the best meals I had in Mauritius. They had some seating out front, too.

The guesthouse and the restaurant are both down a side street with locals just going about their business. In the evening, people are just hanging out having beers as the sun goes down. A few dogs walking along, but totally docile. That is one of the things that struck me about Mauritius and few of the other 100+ countries I've been to. You can really tell how gentle the people in a place are by how the stray dogs are. The people are kind and gentle to the dogs and the dogs don't run around like vicious, growling beasts. Everywhere I went in Mauritius the strays were extremely docile and the people extremely laid back and kind. One of the best travel experiences I've had. Well worth the nearly 48 hours spent on 4 planes to get there!
