A well presented exhibition of Mauritus' history in regards to the indentured workers brought to the island to replace the labour force lost due to the abolition of slavery. A harrowing experience by today's terms. Read the ship's log for a glimpse of the terrible conditions and dangers for the the indentured making the journey.
Interactive bits for the kids as well.
Entry is free.
Staff are friendly and helpful, and there are clean toilet facilities too.

This is place where all imigrants were administrativelly processed when entering Mauricius. This Is really great exhibition showing history of this process that replaced slavery. Entrance is free and level of exhibition Is really high.

For the first time ever, I have the feeling of how was the life of the immigrants from India. The named doesn't really speak to me but the place does. The amount of information recalling the events of that time is pretty impressing. Place is quite luxury in my opinion and well equipped in terms of technological devices (touch screens) for both adults and kids. Staff is very friendly and entrance is free. I completely recommend.

This site has the reminiscence of the early Indian indentured labourers who came to Mauritius to work on the sugarcane fields which are present all over the country. There is a museum opened by shri. Sushma swaraj a prominent leader in Indian politics. The museum houses the various articles used by the labourers, it features the way they travelled from India, the hardships they faced and the condition when they arrived in Mauritius. It also has video interfaces of understanding for children.

This is a UNESCO heritage site that I highly recommend. It has a very good interpretative center that tells the story of all men and women who were brought to Mauritius by the English colonial power to work at low and unfair payment. This was an experiment, at first that got replicated in several other European colonies around the world. The site is where the workers, mostly coming from India would disembark.
It's good if you want to know a bit more about some, frequently untold, piece of history. It's free admittance.

Worth a visit, the staff is friendly and will be happy to answer your questions, but there isn't really a guide provided.
Depending upon how much you spend time reading the content in there, and if you don't read through covering the entire thing is about 5 mins

Excellent museum that depicts the landing of Indian indentured labour on a historic site. Having seen the museum come up, the contributors did a splendid job. Interactive touchscreens and dioramas narrate the story.
