Since our opening, back in 1940 - we have been best known for our traditional 'Fenkata' - and 75 years later, the dish remains a top favourite of our local, and foreign guests alike.
Over the years, we have added various genuine and generous dishes to our menu, which nowadays includes; traditional 'bragioli' and other local dishes, pasta, pizza - as well as, delicious home-made desserts.
Il-Barri Restaurant has been run by the Sammut family since its opening. In the early days, it was a humble coffee shop run by the late Karmnu Sammut and his wife Pawla. It served mainly the then stationed British servicemen - and this is precisely, when our 'Fenkata' was first served.
Over the years, the restaurant underwent several refurbishments, and additional food dishes were introduced in the menu. Today our restaurant boasts of modern décor eloquently mixed with traditional elements to provide the perfect setting for a pleasant dining experience.
Yet our food rationale remains unchanged - traditional, genuine and generous.
