Description

Dr David Mallia and Dr. Bertrand Sciriha

Dr David Mallia graduated as a Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2004. His thesis “Dumping and the use of Anti-Dumping Measures” debates whether the use of this controversial trade protection instrument is still warranted in the context of increased globalisation. Dr Mallia obtained a Magister Juris in European and Comparative Law (ECL) in 2005. His thesis “Article 82 – Is it time for reform” is a debate on the practical issues arising from the application of this EC competition rule. His principal areas of practice are corporate, civil and fiduciary law. Dr Mallia was among the first applicants to be approved as a licensed administrator of Private Foundations from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) in 2009. Currently Dr David Mallia is a partner at BSDM Advocates Malta and a member of the Malta Chamber of Advocates.

Dr Bertrand Sciriha

Dr Bertrand Sciriha graduated as a Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta in 2004. His thesis “The Development of the Law of Lease on Dwelling Houses And its Effect on the Rent Market” is a study of the attempt by the legislator to protect the lessee’s right to shelter and of the abundant legislation regulating the contract of lease, including possible future development of this law and the effects of such unstable law on the rent market. Dr Sciriha obtained a Magister Juris in International Law in 2005. His thesis “International Crimes: An Analysis of Selected Crimes in International Law and other Criminal Practices” considers specific international crimes and their salient features and in particular those aspects related to money laundering. His principal areas of practice are corporate, civil and fiduciary law. Dr Sciriha was among the first applicants to be approved as a licensed administrator of Private Foundations from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) in 2009.
