These Portuguese Egg Tarts are the bees-knees. Nothing compares. I go to Macau just to eat these, then see my family if I have time.
This bakery, cum cafe, has many outlets in Macau (as well as other fine outlets in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan)-- with the cafe in the Venetian hotel being perhaps "best known"!!. Perhaps its most interesting outlet is in the Institute for Tourism Studies--- where it has operated since 2000. It is well known and the "creator" of the "Portuguese Egg Tart"--- which is ever so silky in texture-- as well as delicious on the palette!! The service also matches the excellence of their menu. Its a great place to enjoy this "iconic" snack item.
In Macau, if you have the time, go to Lord Stow's Bakery. Their Portuguese Egg Tart is must must try. Also known as pastéis de nata, its milky and pudding-like in the center, and the top was “like creme brulee”. The crust was thick and flaky. So yummy!!
One of the best Portuguese egg tarts I have ever had. Flaky puff pastry with melt-in-your-mouth custard. Best eaten while it's warm.
A famous Macau tradition. Simple but tasty treats.
Best egg tarts in Macau, better than the one in Margaret
