Tranquil and quiet, good camping ground just outside ulaanbaatar, spend sometime there to get feel of the wilderness just two hours from the capital.

One of the few places in Mongolia to have such a beautiful rock view like grand canyon

A small southern portion of the park is developed for tourists, with restaurants, souvenir shops, horses and camels for rent, and tourist ger camps, many of them run by the Juulchin corporation, the former state tourism company. However, most of the park is undeveloped and difficult to access. Attractions include Khagiin Khar Lake, a 20m deep glacial lake 80 km upstream from the tourist camps, and Yestii Hot Water Springs, natural hot springs 18 km further upstream. The park also has a Buddhist monastery that is open to visitors. Park wildlife includes brown bears and over 250 species of birds. The Tuul Riverflows through the park.

The park has many rock formations for rock climbers, and includes two famous formations named for things they resemble: Turtle Rock (Mongolian: Melkhii Khad) and the Old Man Reading a Book (Praying Lama Rock).

Many Westerners were introduced to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park when the CBS reality television program The Amazing Race visited the park in the second episode of its tenth season.

This is one of the most popular tourist destinations/national park for people visiting Mongolia. Prior to leaving the country, it is a must see for absolutely everyone. The trees, the rivers, the lakes, the skies, the wildlife. All serve as representatives of the beauty that Mongolia has to offer.

It’s only a short drive from Ulaanbaatar and it is bloody worth it! This national park is absolutely spectacular with no shortage of activities. We loved going fishing along the rivers, hiking, exploring temples as well as horse back riding along the amazing and never ending landscapes. Do yourself a favour, and go!

Wonderful landscapes ! Pretty quite different from the west ones : more mountains, rocks but also more hotels, wich makes that place less free and savage than the rest of the country.

Truly spectacular national park. Craggy hillsides and rounded hill tops sprinkled with birch and larch, and other ever-greens.

Nice one day excursion from Ulaanbaatar. Lot's of development give it's a national park. It's well worth hiking up one of the surrounding peaks. Beautiful view from the top.

Wonderful scenery offering a breathtaking experience. Wild horses, traditional nomadic gers or yurts in numerous locations for sleeping, and camel riding can be seen in this region. Just an hour or a little less drive from the capital and you will end up somewhere completely different from a city environment.

Just an hour drive away with lots of camps that provide tons of activities. One of the top tourist locations outside of UB. Tortoise cliff is the main attraction here, please don't litter

Breathtaking views. Rock boulders in the shape of animals, e.g turtle rock. Sleeping in yurts in unforgettable and uncomparable experience (uncomparable with any other places to sleep on holidays. Just look at my photos presenting folksy atmosphere of inside yurta. At night it looks even more moody: the fire burning in that metal stove makes this space reddish, shadows appear on the roof Well, words cannot describe it. Just HIT THE ROAD and go there !!! Won't regret it. /Miros/

Pristine Countryside in the steps of Mongolia. It is truly another land one that is hard to describe. Clean air which is cool at night. Massive rock formations which are great for rock climbing even for a novice. Good hiking. Excellent for horseback riding.
