82 ft statue of avalatikeshar is one the magnificent i have seen
Place of daily worship, nice to see all these respectful people in the temple.
Heavenly and very peaceful venue for all Buddhists.
Really incredible to see the the old and new styles of buildings next to each other. Very open and lovely to get a glimpse of some of the everyday spirituality and practices.
Honestly I would advise getting out of Ulaambataar as soon as possible when you arrive in Mongolia. The city dusty, dingy and the traffic is horrendous.
However if there is one gem to be found in UB it's this wonderful monastery. Located right in the heart of town the monastery is authentic with practicing monks reciting Mantras in the morning and a Buddhist school with young trainee monks going about their chores.
The central temple is absolutely stunning with a 20ft high golden statue housed within. Really takes your breath away and I would advise going if you have a spare day in UB.
Main Buddhist temple in Ulan-Bator. Many shops with Mongolian traditional and religious goods.
Biggest pagoda in Ulanbator_Mongolia. Nice place have to visit
More than 100years old building. Biggest monument of Buddha. Hope you'll enjoy too
Chill place to visit and meditate. Packed with tourists in summer though
Immense Buddha statue and some evocative old temple buildings nestled amongst concrete monstrosities, car parks and unkept pave ways. Not exactly unmissable, but worth going to see and support it's much needed upkeep.
Impressive Buddha! You should check it out
Fascinating to see. There is a good collection of buildings here that you can wander around in and see what buddhism is like in Mongolia.
I think how much you enjoy this depends on which other Buddhist monasteries you've seen. If you're a casual tourist and you've been to some of the grand monasteries in China or Tibet, this might not be impressive. If you've never seen a monastery before, or if you're more interested in the details of the differences between Buddhism in different places, this might be of higher value to you.
The temple is in use and fairly small. My guide took me inside and it was a bit uncomfortable to try to walk past the monks praying. Overall it is interesting. You pay extra to take photos inside. There is a Econ temple with a huge golden statue. Watch out for observers as they back out of the temple. The is a new HUGE temple being built next to the current temple. That should be interesting to see when it opens.
Nice and relaxing, and especially interesting once you learn how Buddhism religion was oppressed during the Soviet era
It's one of the must see places in Ulaanbaatar. You can get a glance at Mongolian Buddhism here as it's the biggest monastery in Ulaanbaatar. I couldn't give 5 star only because this monastery is surrounded by Ger district.
Nice place up escape the busy city and somehow you feel relaxed.
a lot of birds, just try not t feed them, be polite and gentle inside.
Quiet and relaxing place. Around the temple there going to be kids who sells rices for pigeons so you can feed them. Be careful of taking pictures sometimes people are over protective of their holy place
Pretty amazing place. The statue is immense and the attached yard and other buildings are nice as well. Also, this is a nice retreat away from all the chaos (traffic-wise) that UB normally is.
