    ThaBarWa Centre
Thabarwa (Natural) Center in Thanlyin, Myanmar is a non-profit humanitarian organization working for a noble cause.

Thabarwa Center was established with unlimited access for general benefit and is fulfilling the most crucial needs continually and persistently step by step.

Thabarwa Center is open full-time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week without recess. It is the sanctuary for persons from all regions of Myanmar who seek refuge for care and attention and desire to practice meditation.

The center provides sanctuary for more than 3,000 yogis (as of February 2014) including aged persons, sick, infirm, blind, deaf, disabled, mental cases, homeless and helpless. Sanctuary is provided without discrimination or restriction as to number, time, age, health condition, nationality, social status, religion, etc.

Food, lodging and teaching are provided free of charge.

It is the place where volunteers can donate their skills, time, energy, labor, money and materials to gain merit and practice meditation for a worthy cause, and to look after the welfare of the residents taking refuge at Thabarwa Center. Thabarwa channels the money and materials received in donations to provide a peaceful venue for people to practice Dhamma without worry.

One of those places you have to experience for yourself. A village build around meditation & doing good deeds, but no one is forced too or made accountable. It will challenge you in ways you couldn't imagine, but only if you want it to. Complete immersion into the culture & daily lives if the locals. One of the volunteers put it best, "It doesn't make sense, until it makes sense, then it makes sense. If that makes sense."- John

This place for sure you will live a big experience, different lives, cultures, thinks you will like and another you will not. It's a place do and amazing work helping people , people doesn't have a home or where to go. I was as a volunteer with two friends. My friends have problems because moncs from the neighbours monastery, tried to attack them and the answer of Thabarwa manager was, "they are jealous of us" that was very estrange. I don't consider it's a place to relax because it's not a properly monastery, it's a village and there a lot people living there that drive motorcycle all the time and thousands lovely dogs , but very very noisy place. I'm happy I helped there and I repeat is a big experience.
