The best hotel in Shwebo as of April 2017. We checked every hotel in the city, and this was the best option. Foreigner and local rates were not too different. 22,000MMK for a local, 27,000MMK for a foreigner. Rooms were reasonably clean. The hotel is old, but they have attempted maintenance and cleanliness.
The room was large, with the pictured furniture. Toilet was of average cleanliness, but the carpeted floor was a bit worn. Hot water and cold aircon. Bed was soft, pillows were a bit large and hard for my tastes, but quite alright.
One note: make sure you ask for a room on the back side of the building, upper floor. The front of the hotel faces the main road going from Mandalay to Myitkyina, and trucks drive by all night, usually blaring their horns for no apparent reason. There are also big neon lights on the exterior of the hotel that shine through the curtains. This left us with a sleepless night.
One more suggestion: give breakfast a miss, and go down the road to the Ivory Bakery for a fresh pastry and espresso. It's the best way to get your day started!
Fare price
Reservation staffs are quite poor in skill. Room smell is terrible. Cleaning needed. Air con is not reliable.
Good hotel.
Good value for the money. Got a room on the first floor because I wanted a fridge. Staff was helpful and polite.
