  As noted in Lonely planet caves 478 & 480 are the best. Unfortunately the locals are not aware of the cave numberings to lead you to these two caves. At the entrances as you climb the hills, try heading left as u go upwards. Beware the caves have two numbering systems one in numeral & other in Burmese.

  The journey is quite long and hot, but the mural paintings here are the best in SEA.

  Quite a drive, easier if you’re on a boat on the Chindwin. Interesting area with various temples and pagodas. Many images carved into the rock. Not really setup for tourists but where in Myanmar is?

  Dirty and far away for Monywa, didn't think it was worth the distance. Interesting man made caves with crude Buddhas within.
