This is by far the most amazing place I have ever been. The work that is being done by head monk U Nayaka & staff is not only helping people from all over Mandalay but people from all over the country send children here to be educated &/or kept safe (about 6,000 children & young people). In addition to the varied education programs from PK-11, there are adult English & vocational/livelihood trainings; teacher trainings and a clinic that provides free medical care to all who ask as well running regional outreach programs for patients & families dealing with HIV, TB, malaria. They are active in seeding new monastic schools in rural areas where there are no schools at all by providing start up funding, materials and teachers. (Monastic schools are supported by monasteries but teach general curricula, not religion.)
