This is an authentic local market! It's busy and vendors are side by side for aisles and rows selling everything from food to baskets to pottery to clothes, etc. And you can sit and have a meal, if you like. We were overwhelmed with the busy-ness and the choices of things to buy. It's a place to mingle with the local peoplean eye-opener! We loved it!

A typical old fashioned market. Gives a very intimate experience of shopping with the locals. Fresh fruits and vegetables variety available is great. Shopping of clothing is a fun experience because of the haggling that goes on. If one can bargain well, it is a good place to buy value for money stuff. The shopkeepers are really very polite and enthusiastic.

Strong and vibrant place. Full of unique handcrafted goods and clothes. Perfect for souvenirs, but don't miss the opportunity to bargain the prices. Not suitable for soft stomachs.

It's located at Nyaung-U, and many souvenirs, local products and local delicacies are available with resonable price. I visited with my family on Jan 21 and we bought a lot of packages of Pone-Yay-Gyi (soy bean paste), my all time favorite. And bought some tamarinds and tamarind leaves as well which were much fresher than in Yangon. I saw many travellers visiting this market.

A lil smelly in some parts. (Rotting food in pile). It's a good place to get gifts. Don't forget to negotiate. The ladies are really nice there and their English is good.
