I have been here when it was called "Shwe Taung Tan" hotel about 5 years ago. Back then, I like this property a lot. So I decided to come back and stayed there for 1 night during water festival period. (Originally I was planned to stay there 2 nights.) The reason I wanted to come there is because I want to stay quietly and stay away from noise of the festival. Hotel obviously runs down. Pool was dirty. Air-con not functioning. Intercom phone call to reception did not work. There was no AC working in Dining hall. Breakfast very poor. It seems there is no one who is able to take care of hotel business. I will not come back here again.

Staff at reception is extremely friendly and very helpful. That made our stay nice. Everything else is not up to par (pool milky, area around pool dirty even right after cleaning, shower drain not working, towels not replaced, no restaurants in this lackluster neighborhood). If attention of management improved this could be a lovely retreat!

Palace with big swimming pool right in the middle of neighbourhoods. A little far from the center of Mandalay, but it is a good place to stay if you want to run away from noisy downtown. Another thing I like in this hotel is their restaurant. They don't have Menu!!!! The chef will ask you and talk with you for what you want to eat as dinner and will cook for you right away. Never seen that kind of special service in other hotels before. Btw, I love heir umbrellas-decoration in their rooftop bar.
