The hotel Sweet Inn seems to be taking over the name Big Drum. It's a wonderfully simple place. Spacious, clean and great service. The manager is always ready to help and gave us tips for where to go, and how much to pay for things like bicycles, boats, etc. There was one night we walked back and saw him wandering aimlessly in the yard, so we asked him what he was doing. He was caught off guard by our question but he then said that he was waiting for us cause it's dark and we were not back. We took it as a joke, but there you go Always eager to please!

Breakfast is complimentary and hearty, and while eating you can watch the bustling boats as they ferry tourists to the lake.

Don't expect any frills in this hotel, but it's definitely a good place to start your adventures in Inle lake.

It's also an hotel!! Called Sweet inn but locals (taxi) know it as Big drum as well. It is the best service I've ever had in the country. That manager is the best. So hepful at all time. For instance, I bought the wrong bag of tea at the market and asked him to advise me so I could go the day after. Then the man left and went to buy the right one and gave it to me as a present. Just one of the many times that man tried to please us during our short stay in this clean place. The restaurant is directly on the canal (could be noisy because of the boats) and offers a fair food for very cheap prices. The wifi is good as well.
