we stayed at beach view villa that was once home to NLD chairman Daw Aung San Su Kyi. Needless to say, it is the best room/ villa in this hotel. It has private swimming pool and very spacious deck. Everything look very grand and worth paying $600 a night (we got friend and family discount). Please mind you, villa is two stories apartment with bed room on 2nd floor and everything else down stair.

At the glance, it look spscious and home like. Until you realize you have to carry your luggage upstair or change your clothes down stair. We decided to leave all our stuff downstair and only go up to sleep. Good solution until we need to use toilet facility at night. Having to climb steep stairs middle of the night while sleepy make me think twice about staying here again. (I do like other aspect of this room, and I would stay again if we get discount again)

Why didn't I give 5 stars review. Well, after paying top dollar for the villa, we are not just buying a bed or a room, we are buying experience. To give you prospective, we moved from the very next door hotel which charged us local currency mmk 70,000a night (~USD $50 with current exchange rate) with 10 nights worth of amount, I don't believe we received the value.

Let me rephrase, there are $160 rate room at this hotel and I would have been happy to give 5 stars for the service we received if we are staying there. Front desk staff were great and friendly. They made the check in check out process with ease.

Houskeeping and food service is where this hotel fell short. We only ate at breakfast that is part of the hotel room charges. The selection were tailored toward European and very limited local food. The coffee was cold, the bread and cake were also cold and hard. Wait staff trying to make sure coffee are filled to Western looking table and we got half cup refill of coffee.

Another was housekeeping service. We had problem operating coffee machine. I called for help and it took almost 30 minutes for someone to show up. (best villa and most expensive room in the hotel, I would have thought they have dedicated service or department for these room). Some of the hotel in other countries have private butler service for these type of rooms. small little things, there was turn down service and they did make bed and close curtain but no refill of drinking water, no replacing of wet tower, no refill of coffee or no picking up wet beach tower from pool area. I think houskeeping department need training to be 5 stars hotel.

I am being a bit critical in this review because I want hotel to make notes and change to improve. The hotel has great potential and great location with wonderful facility. But hotel is competing with service against like H Hotel (US based) a few block down the road.

A beautiful place. Mind you, to sleep here is only a little more expensive than other hotels here but something to eat or drink is a lot (!) more expensive.

There is a very nice swimming pool near the beach. It is pleasure to watching the sunset scene from the pool. Having breakfast is great taste with starring the sea.
