Great Place to stay. Staff were very helpful and the free breakfast was super delicious.The Bathrooms are very clean . And great location , very close to the train station. highly recomment to try three ancient cities day trip and the other day trip itinery that they arrange for the guest. And Very cheap to rent the motobike and bicycle. So you should definately stay at Ace Star BnB hostel.

Watch out for this business. After a long day of traveling to Myanmar I arrive to my hostel here where I had already paid online. I paid on Airbnb and had a print out of my receipt along with the app that identifies I paid. When I got there the front desk told me to sir down and told me that they did not have my booking. They insisted that I pay again for the room and I refused. After a long battle of what was the right thing to do I did not falter. I sat there and asked for the owner to coke and tell me why I couldn't get into the room I paid for. As I was sitting there, other customers were coming in and having the same type of problem. I started to notice a trend. Other people did not care and would pay twice, but for me I don't have the money to pay twice to every place I stay. So if you don't stand for something you will fall for anything. Once the owner came, she explained that I did not pay because she did not have an Airbnb account. So I told her to use her computer while I watched to show me. She in fact did have an Airbnb account, as I already knew. Right as she pulled it up I could see in the right hand corner my name and "paid" with the amount next to it. I instantly took a picture as further proof and she got intimidated. She told me fine she would give me a room. This is after hours of arguing with her, hungry and tired. She gave me a bed that was on the top bunk, caked with dust. The bed had not been cleaned for a long time, but I was only staying one night and did not have many other options. I can't even describe the dissatisfaction I had with this hostel. Sorry, but this place needs this review.

Love it!
Really nice place to stay located in the downtown area of Mandalay.
The staffs are so friendly and helpful.
Felt like staying at home while I was there.
The breakfast is superb!
Beds are so comfortable!
If you're looking for a hostel to stay in MDY, this is a must!

Plus, there is bike rental service to go around the town!

Just everything you need: good located, wifi works, clean and very very friendly people. Place where you get treated as a guest but also as a friend.

Excellent hostel with an even better staff. Clean, nice location near train station, really good free breakfast. Only issue was some pretty inconsistent wifi. Would recommend it overall though.

This is a simple hostel with five star staff. It's clean, quiet, and five minutes walk from the railway station. The breakfast is good, served on the roof terrace. It's a good place between trains or for a longer stay.

Place under construction. Very noisy at night despite the staff promising work would stop early. Powertools and hammering till late. Staff didn't care when explained the following morning. No compensation offered or achieved following discussion with english speaking staff. Disappointingly dishonest and inconsiderate in a country of otherwise lovely people. Avoid.

ace star is doing great things. under the management of Rocky, a singapore national who came to myanmar to help the local people. with his guidance, hes been successfully training local people (some from poorer backgrounds) how to apply western standards to a hostel.

the staff are nice, reception staff have food english. hostel is cleaned daily. dorms with fan and a/c and table and chairs and balcony and socket/lamp.

covered rooftop breakfast with free tea/coffee/water. also available is a washing machine.

for nearby italian coffee try "nova coffee".
for nearby indian food try "pan cherry"

Super friendly staff. Good English. We arrived in the first hours in the morning, they let us have a shower and breakfast even before checking in. ;)

Really amazing and friendly staff! They can help set up tours, bike rentals and transportation. The rooms were clean, had decent A/C and comfortable beds.
