The ruins are worth a visit and there is a lot of things to learn. We really enjoyed walking around and being part of history. Only thing is that we didn't get a guide ad advertised and realize that too late, so ask upfront.

Go there to be amazed, even if you're not a fan of roman remains and history. This roman site is huge, very well preserved and with really big, impressive and well preserved tiles. It inly costs 120MKD/person and the staff speaks really good english.

Stobi is an amazing place to visit and tickets are very affordable (120MDK, children free) with guide (voluntary contribution) included. Not only the excavation site is interesting but the staff is extremely friendly. Furthermore we had a superb guide and she showed and explained facts and modern status of the site. We highly recommend to visit!!!

Stobi (Стоби, Στο'βοι,) is an urban settlement from ancient times located on the place where Black River (Црна Река, Erigon) enters into the Vardar River (Вардар, Axios).
The site was crossed by important routes in the Balkans (Thessalonica, Sirmium, Heraclea Linkestis, Stobi, Pautalija, Serdica).
Stoby was mapped to the famous Tabula Peutingeriana so that European explorers in the mid XIX century easily found its position. Archaeological excavations have been launched since the First World War and with occasional interruptions they are carried until today.

Vast and impressive, Stobi is a great way to spend a couple of hours wandering through the ruined boulevards and imagining them bustling back in the day.
