Once the famous scientist Newton was asked:
– How is it possible that the dead bodies, long ago corrupted, could become again bodies of their own souls?
It’s unreasonable for a Local Church, the very Church which attained its identity due to the initiative and engagement of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, to cease communing with it, since it is the real source of the canonical status of its existence. The Fathers of the Ecumenical Councils entrusted the Constantinople Patriarch with the central role in the Church and these decisions cannot be altered just because some Local Churches today feel self-sufficient in the wealth and the mundane power they have.
The Ecumenical Patriarchate does not propose autocephaly in Ukraine as a weapon for war, but as a medicine to mend the ecclesiastical schism, which has lasted for almost 30 years. As we mentioned, the entirety of the episcopacy of the UOC-MP proposed this medicine to the Moscow Patriarch in 1991 and 1992. As we have shown, during the 20th century, the Ecumenical Patriarch, on the basis of his prerogatives, always ensured the unity of the local Orthodox Churches and proclaimed a line of new autocephalous Churches as a way to ensure the unity of the Church in the bosom of each new local church, as well as the unity between all the Local Churches. The role of the Ecumenical Patriarchate is to serve the unity of the Orthodox Church.
The prayerful rejoicing in the Bigorski Monastery in honour of the glorious Beheading of the Forerunner, was completed this afternoon with the Divine vespers service dedicated to the founder of the Monastery, which according to the ecclesiastical tradition is served on the day of the Monastery feast. At the ceremonious Vespers, headed by His Eminence, the Metropolitan of Debar and Kichevo Mr. Timothy, beside our great heavenly intercessor, St. John the Forerunner and Baptist,... we also celebrated in our prayers the founding father of the Holy Bigorski Monastery, our protector among the Saints, John of Debar, Archbishop of Ohrid. St. John of Debar founded this renowned Monastery in the distant year of 1020, on the exact place where, according to the tradition and the old monastic chronicles, as a hermit he found the miraculous icon of St. John the Baptist.
See MoreThe feast which we have gathered here to celebrate together today is radiant and filled with divine joy. It is rightly called radiant because it shines from the very name of him whom we are honouring today, since he is called the lamp of the light. He is not, of course, a lamp who illumines us with material light, because then his radiance would not be enduring and constant and would be lost every time some obstacle moved in front of it. But it is light that shows the brilliant radiance of divine grace in the depths of the hearts of those who have gathered to celebrate his memory and who elevate their minds to think upon the sufferings of the righteous man, so that gazing with the eyes of our souls upon his blessed martyrdom, we shall be filled with spiritual joy…
The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but when each individual learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire the other person’s good qualities.
When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world.
I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation.
When I found I couldn’t change the nation, I began to focus on my town. I couldn’t change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family...
These days, Jerusalem was breathing with especially graceful joy, which poured into the hearts of the multitude of people from all over the world, who came in order to celebrate the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God at that authentic place.

See MoreDon’t hate the sinner, because we are all more or less guilty. And if you accidentally, for the grace of God, turn against him, you better mourn him. And why do you hate him? Maybe you hate his sins? But you have to pray for him, so that you become like Christ, Who did not object against the sinners, but rather prayed for them. Don’t you see how He cried for Jerusalem? We too, often get humiliated by the devil for many of our sins. Why then do we hate the one who has been humiliated, just we like have been deceived many times by the devil who lures us?
The dialogue between the Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Mr. Bartholomew and the Patriarch of Moscow Mr. Cyril has just ended. According to the information, the conversation lasted for exactly four hours, while as the two leaders had a private meeting as well.
A trustworthy source of romfeia.gr confirmed that the Patriarch of Moscow suggested to the Ecumenical Patriarch that a scientific symposium is carried out in which all the texts and sources regarding this issue would be publis...hed. He also suggested that a dialogue is opened in regard to this matter.
The Ecumenical Patriarch listened very carefully to the requests of the Patriarch Cyril, but in spite of all that, informed him that this issue has been discussed for a long time and is in its final stages.
“With great pleasure, but the autocephaly has already been decided upon and we will continue with it” – stated the Ecumenical Patriarch, according to the information of the source.
See MoreA while ago the Patriarch of Moscow and whole Russia, Mr. Cyril, arrived at the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The Patriarch and his companions were cordially accepted by the Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Mr. Bartholomew.
The Ecumenical Patriarch wished them a warm welcome at Phanar, expressing his evident joy on the occasion of this visit.
“We are very happy to receive here, at the Ecumenical Patriarchate, His Grace and Holiness, the Patriarch of Moscow and whole Russia, Mr. Cyril with his companions. Every time we meet, we share our joy at the opportunity to discuss matters of mutual interest”.
The recent letter of the Serbian Patriarch Mr. Irenaeus addressed to His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Mr. Bartholomew, in which he obviously attacks him with strange arguments, in many occasions inconsistent and contradictory, is bound to raise great confusion. Therefore, as a monastic brotherhood and for the sake of truth, we couldn’t restrain ourselves from commenting on it, and on the serious and heavy accusations against our Church.
The Serbian Patriarch Mr. Irenaeus sent a long letter to the Ecumenical Partiarchate, where he analyses the progress of the discussion regarding the presence of ethnophiletism in the Orthodoxy of today, which took place in the Holy Assembly of the Serbian Church.
You were Transfigured on the Mount, O Christ God, Revealing Your glory to Your disciples as far as they could bear it. Let Your everlasting Light shine upon us sinners! Through the prayers of the Theotokos, O Giver of Light, glory to You!
By presenting the most powerful weapon of peace and the undefeated victory – the Holy Cross of Christ, and by the memory of the Holy Maccabean Martyrs, the Divine Church begins today with the two weeks long Holy Dormition Fast. And this is its calling: “Faithful come and venerate the life-giving Tree, on which Christ – The King of Glory voluntarily opened His arms in order to rise us to the original bliss, that the enemy separated us from and distanced us from God just for on...e bitter delight“. Come faithful let us wisely correct the sin of our ancestors with this holy and blessed Fast, to bring joy to our soul and please our Lord. It’s wise of the Church to begin with the Holy Cross this fasting fit, because it “prepares a path to heaven for those who venerate it with unshakable faith, and the One Who crucified Himself on it enjoins to the angelic union those who celebrate Him with love”. A perfect example for restraint and dedicated following of the Divine Law, is the life and martyrdom of the seven Old Testament Maccabean Martyrs, along with their mother Solomonia and the teacher Eleazar, who boldly confessed their faith in God the King of All before the torturing king: “Not even the sword, nor the beasts, nor the wounds could separate us from Him, we would rather die here, together with our old mother and the father teacher, so that we could live and rejoice forever in the never ending eternity“.
See MoreТhe 6th shift of the summer camps of love in the Bigorski and Rajchica monasteries ended in a beautiful and graceful atmosphere,. These days, our guests were about 30 children from Skopje, Kochani and Gostivar, whose serenity and pure love brought a new wave of joy in the monastery gardens. A little spontaneous friendship, but a lot of love with which our friendships became unbreakable; a little science, but yet, much more learning about the faith, the responsibility, the ob...edience, forgiveness, sincerity, kindness, patience and humbleness, about the prayer and the sweet fruit the prayer gives to us. About the mercy and the willingness to give a hand to the other. The acquired knowledge that they got in the monastery, should be applied outside the monastic gates. This is the most important lesson of this schools of virtues, for which we firmly believe that it leaves a very strong and profound mark in the children’s lives.
To be capable to peek in the inner soul of these thirty young people, we give you their original impressions in which they expressed their gratitude to our Abbot, Fr. Parthenius for the hospitality he has showed them:
See MoreMy beloved brothers, sisters and children, worshipers of the Holy and Life-Giving Cross!
I feel the need first to apologize because I didn’t have any previous preparation, in order to tell you something more about the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and its importance for us, the Christians. Actually, I didn’t even intend to say anything this evening. But during the vespers one of the sisters approached me and whispered: “Father, wouldn’t you say anything about the Cross of Chri...st?” I looked then at the decorated Archimandrite cross that I have on my chest; looked around the church – wherever I turned I could see this most beautiful ecclesiastic adornment, this glittering sign of our Saviour: on the iconostasis, on the chests of people, on the icons, the chandelier, the walls… And it made me think: is the cross just a decoration? Then I remembered a wonderful ecclesiastic verse from the Service of the Cross, which says: The Cross is a protector of the whole Universe, the cross is an adornment of the Church, and the cross is the strength of emperors, a mighty fort for the faithful, glory for the Angels and defeat of the demons“. It is truly an adornment, but a victorious one, most powerful, most glorious, “weapon of peace, undefeated victory”. Therefore everywhere in the churches one can see this symbol of Christ’s victory: we have it upon us, we see it painted on the icons, the vestments, ecclesiastic books etc.
See MoreIt’s the third year since our fraternity of the Bigorski Monastery and the sisters of the Rajchica and Prechista convents, lead by our beloved Abbot and Elder, Archimandrite Parthenius, started serving with great love and dedication a Divine Liturgy on the top of Krchin, on the altitude of 2341 meters. Directing all our strength towards the climbing of these heavenly heights, we shared with all the people present there a really rare and blessed experience to attend this unusual Divine Service which is being served on the mountain top of Krchin by hieromonks and hierodeacons of our monastic fraternity.
