“Peace Through the Performing Arts: Reclaiming the Radical” was the name of the 2nd project in the cluster of three projects funded by Erasmus+ which took part from 16th to 24th of October in the ASHA Centre in Flaxley, United Kingdom.
There were seven participant countries including Macedonia, Croatia, Greece, Romania, Poland, Estonia, Italy, and the UK.
Radicalization was the sliding notion throughout the whole project. For that purpose the participants looked at the theme...s of conflict, violence, and peace as stages of the radicalization process. The workshop was organized through interactive and creative activities, either in pair work or group work, where the participants put themselves in various situations in which they actively experienced certain circumstances of conflict, violence, or peace. Going through such situations helped the participants to become more sensitive to radicalization in their societies and raised their awareness to the topic.
The culmination of the project was acting out scenes of the Shakespearean play Macbeth on which performance as part of the audience were people from the local organisations. As part of the workshop there were also embodied some theatrical exercises of stage presence and vocalization. Yet again the goal of these sessions was to make the participants active listeners and be impactive speakers in a conversation.

See MoreIt’s EUr time! 7 countries, 42 participants, 1 goal!
Asap Europe an NGO based in Fasano, Italy, in close cooperation with CET platform Macedonia, has organised an Erasmus+ youth exchange covering the issues of active citizenship and youth participation. The project named “Ci Piace” gathered 42 participants from Italy, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia and Greece for the period of one week.
...The participants explored the topic with the methodology of non-formal learning. The issues were tackled interactively through group-work and entertaining sessions, including role-playing, theatre, posters, drawing, video creation and more. One of the goals was to reflect on our role in the society and how we can engage better within it. As part of the activities the members of the project got the chance to attend a meeting with the city mayor and a representative of the city council. It allowed them to get an insight into the issues that are discouraging Fasano’s youngsters to engage actively in their community.
At the end of the project the participants ran a campaign to promote active citizenship and youth participation. In front of the municipality of Fasano, the international youth surprised the local community with a flash mob to gain visibility and introduce the project’s topics to a wider public. Afterwards the participants were ready to reply to the questions of the local youth, to share their experience within the Erasmus Plus and encourage them to be better informed and engaged citizens in their daily life.

See MoreWhen being asked about the topic of human rights i always had something to say, but i had no one to say it to. Well this project that took place in Djakovo, Croatia was a place when my opinions were heard.
I learned so much more, that I understood that there are a lot of different opinions and that there is no right or wrong answer. We always started the session with a quick energizer and that always made us laugh. We did team-building activities that allowed us to get to kn...ow each other even better. There was the first "fashion show" in Djakovo in which we represented CET platform through clothes made of paper.
The most important people related to human rights were portraited trough a theatre in which we were the actors and directors. There was always a way to show everything, but in a way that will be fun being the non-formal education that it was.
We had the chance to represent our countries on the intercultural nights and they were always amazing because we got some insight of how different the cuisine is everywhere.
We talked about gender equality, LGBT community, migrations, refugees, discrimination, racism and so much more of the problems in our surroundings. We watched a movie that related to the topic that touched us all deeply and made us see the world through a different set of eyes. There were always some new solutions brought on the table on how to solve those problems.
We did street actions that allowed us to talk to the people on the streets and to them to give us an honest opinion related on the matter. That was a learning experience because we got to see how the older and younger generations speak of and address human rights.
This project gave us so much more than the knowledge. It gave us new friends, new memories and new set of ideas. It gave us the opportunity to express ourselves like no place ever did. It is an experience that we will all remember and I highly recommend it to everyone that wants to have fun, learn something new and to experience a whole different world that Erasmus+ has to offers.
The youth exchange was hosted by our network member CET Platform Hrvatska in Djakovo, Croatia from 15th to 23th of October 2018. The Macedonian team was represented by Kika Ristovska, Sophie Djukic, Vasil Gichevski, Антонио Ѓорѓиоски, Марко Маневски and Елена Божиновска.

See MoreThe beautiful village Krzyżowa, located in the Western part of Poland, is a place that Aleksandar Pavlovski, Riste Ruchkomanov and Vesna Radinovska will never forget.
The three, as representatives of CET Platform Macedonia, took a part in a training course that was organized by CET Platform Polska, held in a marvelous venue in Fundacja Krzyżowa dla Porozumienia Europejskiego / Stiftung Kreisau from 15th to 22nd of September.
The topic of this training course was “Systematic... approach to youth work” and the participants managed to learn a lot about the way youth organizations operate on a local level. The sessions were very inspiring and enriched with many interesting activities such as simulations, games, quizzes, role plays, case studies etc.
Of course, it was not all about learning. The participants had many options for free-time activities and they used them wisely. Leisure time was spent either playing sports on the alluring grass garden, exploring the nature and culture in and around the village or playing foosball, table-tennis, dodgeball, watching movies, singing, dancing … or simply having fun and enjoying life.
On the intercultural evenings organized within this project, our representatives introduced Macedonia, its food, its culture and its natural beauties to their peers from Poland, Romania, Greece, Lithuania, Croatia and Italy. They also got familiar with the main characteristics of the other participating countries.
When asked how they would describe this training course our representative gave an unison answer – a week full of joy!

See MoreAsha Centre. Asha is a magical place that always brings special people together and creates a unity between them, an unbreakable bond. It is a place where we meet old friends and make new ones.
From the 17th until the 25th July, four participants from Macedonia joined other 30 participants from Italy, Estonia, Greece, Poland, Croatia and the UK for the training course "Peace through the performing arts: Breaking the cycle of violence", that was hosted in ASHA Centre, Forrest ...of Dean, United Kingdom.
We started our journey with an intercultural evening, all of the countries presented their traditional food and drinks and we continued with each country's performance. Some sang traditional songs and danced traditional dances, others taught us words in their language, read poems and did small theatre performances. We exchanged our cultures, traditions, customs between us and gained lots of knowledge about our countries.
The topic was deeply explored with many exercises and team building workshops. One of them was exploring the subjects of conflict, violence and peace through creation of personal experiences. We were split in three groups and each group presented one of the topics. We all felt the frustration, pain and anger coming from violence and conflict, and finally we felt the benefits of peace.
We had many speech exercises as we needed to prepare ourselves for a final performance. The amazing trainers from Asha were specialized in theatre, so we did a Shakespeare’s play, The Merchant of Venice.
We used theatre as a tool to understand conflict, where it arises from, the reasons why it arises and to learn how to deal with conflict in peaceful ways, so we can fight the use of violence as a resolution to conflict situations. Each one of us had a role to play.
The play started with a beautiful song sung by a choir, and it ended with a song about peace. A conflict was presented in the beginning of the play which evolved all though the play. Each could feel the anger and the hatred which the main character had in himself. However, the participants could also feel the love that blossoms in every play of Shakespeare. The participants bounded very quickly and easily and became one big family after one week together in Asha.
We had a wonderful afternoon and picnic at Symond's Yat, in the wonderful Forest of Dean, where we enjoyed the nature, laughed a lot and got to know each other much better.
Also, we enjoyed a night in the pub, where we danced, laughed, talked and played pool. We had a hero’s journey of our own.
The Asha Centre provided everything we needed and we had an incredible experience. All of the staff were amazingly hospitable and friendly. And the wonderful organic food, produced with biodynamic agriculture, only contributed for us to feel in harmony with ourselves and the beautiful nature surrounding this incredible place. Asha indeed feels like home.
