Celebrating an historic day at NATO HQ. Today on behalf of #Italy 🇮🇹 and together with the other Ambassadors to the NAC, the Italian Permanent Representative, Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero, signed the 🇲🇰 Accession Protocol to the Washington Treaty. Once the ratification process will be completed, the future Republic of North Macedonia will become NATO’s 30th member, ensuring stability and prosperity in the #WesternBalkans. Skopje’s accession to NATO is a success story made of dialogue and political courage showing that peaceful resolution of historical disputes through reconciliation and cooperation is possible. #Italy stands for a secure, democratic and prosperous 🇲🇰 and #Balkan region.

Visit to the beautiful #Stobi archeological site, where the Roman and Byzantine remains testify to the important heritage of the city (which was a “municipium” under the Roman Empire). This is one of the great examples of the cultural and historical richness of the region. In 2008 the site was rehabilitated with funds of the Italian Cooperation (Cooperazione Italiana allo Sviluppo) 🇪🇺🇮🇹🇲🇰

At the exhibition “From brotherhood and unity ‘63 to Skopje ‘63” for the 55th anniversary of the dramatic earthquake which destroyed #Skopje on July 26th 1963. Tragedy for the many loss and huge material damages, but one of the first examples of international solidarity, including #Italy both from institutions and private individuals. In this context just to mention the donations of approximately 350 pieces from some of the most important Italian and international contemporary artists, like Guttuso, Burri, Baj, Baruchello, great representatives of the Modernism. The “Italian” collection is at the Contemporary Art Museum of Macedonia.
