Description

Without limiting the generality of powers vested in the Immigration Division by Act, functions of Immigration officers shall include, but are not limited to:
(a) carrying out immigration clearance procedures at approved airports and docks;
(b) subject to powers conferred by a warrant of designation under section 105(4) or by delegated authority under section 109, issuing visas and permits in accordance with the provisions of the Act;
(c) effectively implementing and enforcing shore pass procedures under Part IV;
(d) carrying out routine inspections of premises to ensure that:
(i) curfew hours under section 119(1) are being observed; and
(ii) persons are not in the Republic in contravention of their visas or permits;
(e) issuing citation notices pursuant to penalty provisions under the Act or regulations;
(f) liaising with the Attorney General’s office, members of the Police, Labor Division and other appropriate Government agencies for the effective implementation and enforcement of the Act and regulations;
(g) carrying out any other functions as necessary for the effective enforcement of
the Act and regulations;

(2) Officers of the Division shall, at all times, comply with instructions of the Minister,
Attorney General, Director or any other person to whom the Minister has delegated authority
under section 109.
