Staff at security check asking for "Gift" or bribe after search our bag and wallet in a small room. Also luggage boys at the back calling us to go inside and told us to pay some money in order to let our luggage through.

Do NOT come here!!! Police will rob your money!! After immigration (leaving Madagascar Country), immigration officers check my purse and I have 600 USD. They said i need the form of declaration becuse it is too much money. I don't have the declaration form. They ask to give them the money!!!!

Don`t trust the guys at the baggage check - they steal your personal items!!!

I needed to go to the baggage check at the 3th october 2017 before my flight at 16:00 to Istanbul. The man behind the screen there told me to identify my luggage on the screen after showing him my passport and the boarding pass. I told him that that would be difficult only with a colourful picture on his screen. Then i recognized my luggage a few meters on the belt surrounded by other workers. I told him that this is my luggage. After that i normally was ready for a closer check up but failed. He just asked me if i have anything to declare, i said no. Then he said "he thinks that everything is okay" and he wrote "ok" on my boarding pass. After that he said i should leave and go back to the waiting hall.

After coming back home i realized that my go pro action camera is missing, the safety box for underwater use and the data chip! I am very sure that these guys there stole my personal items! It`s the second time that i got in touch with those belt workers in an african airport - in Kenya those guys stole parfum, eau de toilet and some ofter things. Now the same but even more expensive - so be very attentively and suspiciously if you ever have to go to the baggage check - it`s the first step to get ripped off and stolen by people everybody should trust.

I went to the police - those guys are still working there and believe me, many more passengers got called out like me and invited to go to the baggage check while i was waiting on the airport.

A small airport. Upon arrival, quarantine staff asking money from travel buddies. A really damaging image to this beautiful country. Also there was a wait of more than 30 minutes to get back the passport after buying the visa and stamping. More than forty foreign travelers were waiting with no reason.

Shop around the money exchange before committing after passing the custom area. Sim card shops were available too.

Upon departure, change the surplus local money before the check in. Food was very expensive after the security check. Accept Euro only. Free Wi-Fi could not be found. There was no flight info display inside the departure area.

One of the worst airports I've been in. Several instances of corruption, I.e., employees holding back luggage in an effort to get a bribe "gift" from passengers before handing back belongings. Dirty restrooms. You need euros to purchase coffee in a country that uses ariary-ariary. People hound you outside the airport for money. Poorly lit parking lot. Felt unsafe and was glad to get out of there! Flew out via Air France - glad it wasn't Air Madagascar! Oh, yea, and security was a joke. An agent confiscated my small bird souvenir made of a Zebu horn. He told me its beak could be used as a weapon. Give me a break!

Decent small airport for a such simple good country. If you know French language you can manage with ease. People are friendly and are ready to help beyond their area of influence. Have decent eat outs, cool waiting area, cab facilities etc.,

Very chaotic airport. Definitely has a long long long way to go. If possible, try and plan your flight to depart at night. That eases some of the frustrations

The most horrible airport in the World. Everything is messed up. An excellent example of super inefficient management and corruption on all lines. Your passport will be checked 5-10 times. Your luggage will be searched by a men with dirty hands. You will be harassed by the staff, by the police and by the customs and by whoever else decides to harass vazaha.

Worst airport experience I've had. Have to put that in context though this is not Europe or USA, this is a very impoverished state in Africa. That's why it gets 2 out of 5 (+1 star for some understanding). Nonetheless, I can't give it a decent rating because it is still a horrible experience (from my perspective). Very slow, unfriendly staff, very confusing and very busy. Our flight left 45 minutes late.

On the plus side, my arrival was fairly straightforward, it was the departure that was not that good.
