I give this place five stars because of the great people watching I experienced while here. It's good place to meet up with friends or just relax and see what there is to see.

Very nice statue of Stephen the Great, a former great ruler of Moldova (made of the Republic of Moldova together with Moldova Region from Romania). Nice landmark too.

A nice central location at the point of the primary historical strip. At the entrance to a beautiful park, Stefan is honored as a sort of founding father of Moldova, this is a revered man and a respected monument.

A nice place to contemplate in the city center. During the summer you can rest on the stone benches, but during winter you would find the too cold.

The monument to Stephen the Great was designed by the architect Alexandru Plămădeală in 1923. It was erected near the main entrance of the Stephen the Great Park in Central Chişinău. The monument was completed in 1927 and opened on 29 April 1928 (to replace the monument to Alexander II of Russia, destroyed by the Romanian authorities in 1918), marking the 470th birthday of Stephen the Great.
In 1940, the Romanians relocated the monument to Vaslui and blew up its pedestal. On August 25, 1942, the monument was returned to Chişinău and taken back to Romania in 1944. In 1945, the Soviet authorities ordered the restoration of the monument. On 31 August 1989, the monument to Stephen the Great was returned to its original location, chosen by Alexandru Plămădeală in the 1920s. The initial inscriptions were restored.

A historical monument right near the most important locations in Chisinau. Also there are some parks nearby.

It's like a beacon where everyone in this city meets.
    Where should we meet?
    At Stephen obviously!

This is one of the iconic locations in Moldova. Ștefan cel Mare can be found on the streets, money, and in towns around Moldova, but this is one of the most recognizable statues of this local Moldovan hero. The park behind the statue is clean, well cared for, and loved by locals and tourists.
