It's a good square, Only one things that I didn't like is the childrens they try to sell things even if you refuse, I know this is not their problem, But the government should provide them with better opportunities,

Designed by Sultan Moulay Ismail, the square served as a space to celebrate parties, organize demonstrations of all kind, mainly military. The square was also used for religious, cultural, and political gatherings, and in normal days was used as a large souk. Lahdim square is also famous by Bab Mansour, the largest gate in Africa that connects the square with other parts of the old medina.

"Lahdim" is one of the most important archaeological sites in the Ismailia capital city. It is regarded as a symbol of the national struggle. Its authenticity and strategic location near the "Door of Bab Mansour”, made it a meeting place for visitors.
According to some historical sources, the name “Lahdim (demolition)” turn back to the demolition at the era of Sultan Al-moula Ismail, who prepared his armies before exiting to the military campaigns against his opponents or foreign occupiers

This square is beautiful but I prefer it at night where it turns into a big market. There are many cafes also where you can enjoy a nice hot mint tea while observing people.

Beware of the 2nd restaurant on the left. This restaurant has a yellow menu and sells “fresh grilled chicken”. Like in most places, they will try to get you to eat. Our experience was bad. My grilled chicken was very dry and hard as rock. My partner’s tagine was bland. They forgot our drinks (not big deal as long as we don’t pay for them). They will also charge for the service, which was not communicated beforehand. When we were asking him why he didn’t tell us, he looked at his groups of guys siting at the back and these guys stared at us. We didn’t want to get into any trouble so we just paid for it and left. This is not the way we want to remember this square but just beware because they see tourists as €€€ only. Eat inside the medina it’s better and safer.

At the entrance to the old mellah and souk, and opposite the Bab al-Mansour, this place comes alive at night with food stalls, entertainers, street vendors and music. Well worth a visit if you're staying in Meknès for an evening, which is recommended as it's nicer than Fes! The adjoining covered market and local markets are also open into the evening

Beautiful open space, it is worth a visit. It is the entry point for so many visit in the historicaal city and palaces.
The museum is a small and beauctiful concentrate of local history.
